As in the early days of HIV/AIDS thousands of causes of deaths were put down to other causes, pneumonia caused by having no immune system being one of them!! I don’t know what the legal requirement Is in Thailand, but in many Western countries the specific cause of death has to be recorded, as in your example pneumonia.

Shouldn’t the consequence of NOT giving such an order be taken into consideration before a decision is made? That may be ok to say when you are sitting in the comfort of your own home, but there are obvious social consequences. If you are working away from home and lose your job as had happened and with no prospect of further work what do you expect these people should do. There is no social security safety net here they have to return home or starve.

I've seen enough little hospitals here when I had to visit sick people and I also know how incompetent many of these doctors and nurses are. Have you ever been treated in any of the hospitals you are complaining about? Answer is probably no, stop your scare mongering, many very competent doctors and nurses here. I can only post this due to some very competent doctors here, personal experience, not just gossip. Doctors and nurses in government hospitals here work under very trying conditions, and do their utmost best for patients under their care. 13

Geezer My home and family are in Thailand, where my wife and daughters stay, while I live and work in Myanmar. I came home for a visa run (Myanmar visa, not Thai) but am now stuck here as well! The government are now admitting that the only reason that the number of cases has grown (and hovered around the 100+ mark) is due to the number, or lack of, tests. No-one really knows how many cases their are in the remote parts of Thailand! Or in Bangkok - we had covid (from a friend who stayed from UK) and were told flatly that if its just mild symptoms stay home and isolate. Either they dont think they want the numbers on the record or testing is inadequate. Further, no antibody testing yet in Thailand so no idea who has had the virus and recovered.

Reported as if that's a plus!! To the government and others: STOP PROMOTING THE USE OF MASKS AS THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. Because of this, Thais actually believe that if they're wearing a mask then they're safe! I went into 7/11 yesterday afternoon. I used the sanitiser on the way in and on leaving. If there's no sanitiser then I'll use my own, which I'm never without. Then consciously keep my distance from others. When I arrive home, I wash my hands with soap and water before doing anything else. I decided to watch people going in and out of 7/11 for 15 mins. In that time I notice most Thais wearing masks but NOT ONE used the sanitiser and were certainly not practicing social distancing. The emphasis needs to shift from masks to hand washing, social distancing because until then, masks become the be all and end all of protection. Retail outlets etc have now banned entry without a mask. The government have now classified used masks as hazardous material to be disposed of in red bins, highlighting again the importance of masks as the number one priority. Until people get real on how to protect themselves, it's not going to get better. 6

HHTel
Fortunately, getting the virus from China now has been greatly reduced. All new cases in China are from 'imports' with no new local cases. Greg O
Such total rubbish , they have no idea of the "total numbers" since there weren't reliable tests in place and there was no start date. They will never know and theres absolutely no proof that the draconian measures they've put in effect are doing anything other than trashing the economy and people's quality of life will be pushed further and further into despair. At least the " lucky ones " got out and to their home areas in the nick of time where they'll have a much better life than the government could provide. Has any government ever promised to keep us disease free and safe ? How about the choking pollution all over the country. I'm in Hua Hin area and everyone here is coughing and sneezing due to the indescriminate burning of fields due to the government's tax rate change for open land. Just my observations and opinions. Be safe don't use a dirty filthy mask ...

The deaths that have been reported come from the confirmed pool, which itself fills very slowly thanks to the slow testing and even getting to be a PUI and tested is a strictly filtered process. Add all of this up and you'll have a filter that nearly eliminates the number of deaths. The reported ones, that is. Would the overall death figures give any guidance? If there's an increase in deaths due to the virus but they aren't recorded as such you might see it in the total figured.
