Thailand confirms 120 new coronavirus cases, 2 more deaths

The deaths come from previously confirmed, which come from PUI that have been admitted using a strict criteria. End result is a heavily filtered one, not representing the real situation on the ground.

These numbers are what the Germans would say wurst.

The wifes daughter is back from Mueang Phitsanulok as the school she works at is closed.  Been swanning about here and there, visiting the grannies and staying here with the wifes mum, Wifey and I.  Mum's 74, I am 67 and Wifey is 47.  We will be up a well known creek if the rotten little <deleted> has it and gives it to us.  How many months do you get in LOS for justifiable homicide?  ????

Just a grumpy farang less.. not to bad. Now if friendly helpfull farangs get killed by the virus is far worse. Grumpy ones... nobody will miss them ????

Up till 10 days ago the wifes brother lived with us. He refused to comply with our new self-isolating rules. His job (when he had lots of work then) was music for wedding, funeral, temple services etc, so was always in big crowds socialising. He only today started wearing a mask, before just scoffing it will never come here to a small village. Today the poo yai announced the death a young village resident working in Bangkok and would be cremated there, not brought home as is the norm. Now he is scared as the rest of us.

I am 65 have all the vulnerale issues required for a sure death, so she asked him to leave, which he did. Sit her down and explain the consequences of her actions.

Everyone returning here now HAS to report to the poo yai and stay home for 14 days. I'd say about 70% comply. The rest, ..........

Such unusually steady and low numbers hardly seem to justify the measures the country is going through. Should things get tightened further it would strongly suggest that these are indeed just the tip of the iceberg, the whole of which can no longer be concealed.

I said a long time ago - Actions Speak LOUDER THAN words

They shut down Pattaya after claiming only 5 "CONFIRMED" cases

and testing is minimal - no test no report

I'm done with this now as the stupidity is starting to make me very angry especially the constant blame farangs rhetoric

First reported case of this virus outside China was ..................Thailand back in January, a Chinese National from Wuhan

Just listening to Virgin Radio news, they said that Thailand had rolled out a 15 minute CV19 check using a droplet of blood. If it's that simple, then the Govt. has no excuse for having more test centers around the country...

Virgin and Thailand in the same sentence? Are you sure???

Flattening of the curve in a few weeks.   Likely less than 10,000 infected and just a few hundred dead here in Thailand before we return to normal as China is doing presently.

Yes other countries will continue to have many more deaths and be economically devastated.  Culling of elderly and those with pre-existing will continue.  The lifestyles of Americans is seen as desirable to many people in SEA.  Only until something like corona happens and you come to realize, the U.S. lifestyle is extremely unhealthy for many people.  Americans in their mid-40's are dying of the virus because they already have so many pre-existing heart, lung, or diabetes type problems at a young age.

Thailand will overcome because I predict it of course.  ????

Peace

I agree 100%

It is dropping, I assume Thailand will have around 100 tmr.

Similar results to New Zealand which could me Isolation is having an effect or as some say testing is limited. Whichever is true a spike in Numbers is inevitable in a Country like Thailand.  Especially where the Young assume they are invincible. But as Britain and Belgium have show the very young and those under 30 can be just as fatally susceptible. Your next 10 days may tell a different story

Like Big Brother China they will lie through their back teeth about numbers and we will never know the real numbers !

You seem to have access to some data or research that the rest of us don't have. Keen to see it, proving that they are "lying through their back teeth". One suspects the world's media will be keen to talk with you too.

i feel that testing is very poor we all need access to quick reliable and cheap testing, sooner the better,we are all in agreement with that.get on with it and none of your bigot price lines.the nos of deaths are low its a good sign, its difficult to fix that too much as relatives and socail media would inform the general pop here.weather must be a factor as it was with SARS.so lets hope the mass return doesnt bring a tidal wave thru the villages of elderly folk as if it does this govts on very thin ice.

Approx 120 new cases every day. You wonder if this reported linear increase is because the number of tests that can be carried out is limited to a very low number. You would think there should be some exponential increase by now.

if this figure is correct then thailand is doing an excellent job.

It somehow just amazes me the low numbers in Thailand or am I just 3 weeks to early ?

Hard to say, the death counts coming out of Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines are also rising slower than their western counterparts. Are they all suppressing numbers? Malaysia is probably the most reliable source (I wonder if Singapore is giving assistance to Malaysia, it would certainly be in their interest to do so).

It's still a really low mortality rate though, about 3x the rate of death by food poisoning. What's less clear is the mortality rate without any form of medical assistance.

I understand young people still need to take steps to minimize transmission, to help everyone else in the higher risk groups.

We keep hearing stories of people asking for a test, only to be turned away from hospitals.

I think the numbers are only showing the total test capability of a few hospitals.

Patient numbers are actually much higher.

The reported number of deaths in China does look incredibly low compared to other countries given that it was the original epicenter of the CV-19 outbreak.. Italy, Spain, US, France has more deaths than China.

I know people here have probably said it all before, but I'll just say this again.  "FACE".  As a young boy growing up with a mother who majored in Asian Studies, taught Indonesian for years and sponsored students from Indonesia in our home, it's all about "Losing Face".  If those at the top admit to making a mistake they are gone.  Scapegoats the lot of them, publicly crucified to appease the masses.  So, they just lie and the lies are just accepted as part of their culture.  Unfortunately (for them) a lot of Asians are now being educated in Western Schools, Universities etc and they have become whistle blowers on their aging political hierarchy and culture a slow but evolving process.  Their future lies with the younger generation, the internet will eventually help (it's why the Chinese try to ban certain sites, god forbid the younger generation learn about the propaganda a lies spread by their Govt).
So at the moment anything coming out of an Asian country about that I take with a grain of salt so to speak.  Science and fact however rarely lie, the truth will out over time.
All I can add is, stay safe people, it's a mess out there at the moment, because someone ate a bat....

Whilst I await the avalanche of doubters to comment,  I have met up with a fellow inmate at the Condo whose Cousin is one of the World's leading Virologists who was flown in by Singapore to help them at the start of this crisis. I assume therefore he knows more about what he is talking about than me and 99.999% of us on this Forum. To cut a long story short he said that 3 countries were well placed to deal with CV-19 - Singapore, Taiwan and believe it or not Thailand. Whether he is right or wrong, it has given me a little more confidence in what is happening here. BTW I had an Antibody Test this morning and it was negative - booooo!
