China tapped for more masks to protect medics

The Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) has approved a budget of 660 million baht for urgent procurement of an extra 400,000 sets of N95 face masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) from China.

 

GPO chairman Sophon Mekthon said medical equipment and supplies had to be imported from overseas because production in Thailand cannot meet demand.

 

“China has a large source of supplies so we can procure as much as we need,” he said on Tuesday (March 31). “Deliveries of 150,000 sets of medical equipment will arrive by air this week, while shipments of 250,000 sets will be transported by sea in the next two or three weeks.”

 

He explained that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had earlier chaired a meeting of the Covid-19 situation management centre, which directed the the Ministry of Public Health to procure protective equipment for medical personnel treating Covid-19 patients.

 

“Initially, the Covid-19 situation management centre aimed to procure 2 million N95 masks and the same number of PPE sets.”

 

The government had already allocated Bt1.5 billion to procure 264,000 N95 masks and 350,000 PPE sets, which the GPO had distributed to hospitals, he said.

 

“Our working group on logistics and stockpiling, chaired by Food and Drug Administration Secretary-General Dr Paisarn Dunkum, has been tasked with procuring and distributing medical equipment and supplies to ensure that deliveries are sufficient,” he added.

Why are you so confident that China did it? Do you have any valid reason or proof?

1. It could have been done by some other country to destroy China, as they were developing super fast.
2. It could be something that started naturally, due to some unknown reason.

If it originated in any other country...

1. Would you accuse that country of introducing the virus?
2. Would you still accuse China of introducing the virus?

Just asking, as it seems that the majority attitude seems "I am good, you are bad!"

Why am I so confident that China did it? Did what? Released a virus to the world. Buying up PPI's? Knowing there was a killer virus in early December? Silencing and disappearing people speaking up about it? Could go on but pointless. FACT: 14 out of the first 15 cases in Thailand were Chinese nationals, all tourists, coming into Thailand from China.

Just heard that Australia is about to buy 90 tonnes of medical stuff from China. Interesting as that is exactly what was bought up by Chinese in Aus. and sent to China. This is documented. Don't winge/Google.

are you implying the chinese bought up 90 tons of australian medical supplies, held them in a warehouse in china, usused, for nearly two months, then sent them back to australia to sell at a profit?  what a devilishly cunning plan!

 

nah, not really.  chinese companies located overseas were buying stuff in january to send back to wuhan when the virus was at it's worst and medical supplies were running out.  since then factories have been operating 24/7 to meet their needs, and now that the virus is contained (for now; second wave pending with more factories and schools opening), they have surplus everything to export.

The evidence is there and clear. The CCP are to blame for this.

 

The University of Southampton in England did very good research on this. Have a look. 

 

Don't conflate Chinese people with the CCP. That's what the CCP are trying to do and it's working on many people.

if i understand correctly, those are not new cases, but a new method of reporting existing cases.  they were already included in the reporting, but there was no distinction as to whether or not they were showing symptoms.  looks like they're now going to break down the currently active positive cases into two categories, showing symptoms and asymptomatic.

Australia is among a number of countries (e.g. Spain, Turkey & the Netherlands) that have rejected a large volume of imported Chinese masks, test kites, etc. because they have been found to be faulty. If you can't sell faulty equipment to the rest of the world, why not try it on your "friends".

close by the epicenter of the outbreak, near the wet market, there is a level 2, research lab, where researchers, used research on 2000 different types of viruses, mostly bats, level 2, is weak security lab, level 4, is high security lab,

 

CCP covered up the outbreak October/November onwards, that means with Chinese mass tourism, most countries didn’t know they were already infected with some cases in November/December 

 

CCP locked up whistleblower doctors in December, then lied to the world about human to human transmission until mid-January. Let’s also remember, they sent a trade team to sign phase one trade deal in January, because of last years Chinese swine disease, which they had to kill 50% of their pig population, and US is large pig exporter, and they still never warned the world on the new virus.

 

CCP are wholly to blame, their communist system is the reason the world was deceived and lied too, for more than 2 months on the severity of the outbreak In Wuhan 

 

Let’s not even begin to dissect their fake numbers of deaths, it’s what communist countries do, very little human rights, just look at the way, one mortuary had thousands of urns to hand back, there are 35 mortuarys in Wuhan alone, and CCP claimed their country death total was 2-3,000 from the Wuhan virus

 

very few people will ever know the truth if it was an accident by CCP or deliberate by CCP, or even less now are saying it’s natural from the wet market, but more information is connecting the low level 2 research lab in Wuhan, than a natural cause, the CCP and their system is the reason for this mess, if they were more honest even in December, the world would have 95% less of a problem from the Wuhan virus, and the biggest talking points in Thailand would be air pollution

Actually it's groups of Chinese, often students, known as daigou that go around and empty shelves. Products are then centralized and sent back to China.

Hopefully the quality of the masks are better than what some countries received in Europe from China. Some countries had to send most back since the quality was, well, what you would normally expect from China.

You turned the concepts of the normal biological warfare upside down.  No country would attack another country by releasing the virus on itself first. Assuming if they are actually that stupid to do that, they would have prepared a vaccine in advance to use it on its own population first, not to scramble to develop it during the pandemic.

 

And buying low and selling high - isn't that the capitalism mantra? Or you expect the Chinese to show some communist traits and do it the other way around?

It seems that the world has divided into two parts - the East and the West, since the last decade or more, and is increasing the divide rapidly. Where ever you see, it is the West that's accusing, insulting and throwing derogatory comments about the East. Very rarely that we see vise versa. Loosing face, Xenophobia and what not seems to have infected the East in a big way. All this is spewed out claiming that the West is 100% pure and humane. Is this really the correct situation today? China went berserk when the US limited travel from China at the end of January. Now China has blocked ‘all foreigners’ from entering China. US blocks ‘people’ traveling from China and China blocks ‘all foreigners’. Will you criticize the CCP for that? 
 

This isn’t an east vs west thing. This is a ‘don’t believe the CCP’ thing. 
 

Taiwan has done an amazing job in handling the virus. Maybe the best in the world. They’re right next to China. As many Taiwanese have said, “We know the CCP better than anyone else”. How very true.

That is approx. $45 million dollars for 614,000 masks and PPE, that's a seriously high cost per unit. Somebody is going to get a nice backhander when placing that procurement order... No doubt just another misunderstanding with the published numbers.

Dr. Li Wenliang got questioned at a police station is considered as got locked up? Anyway, Dr Li didn't know that a respiratory disease doctor, Dr Zhang Jixian, from a different hospital had already reported to the proper health authorities on Dec 27 and investigations were on the way. Dr Li was just a forwarder of rumours that he received from other doctors. He was never involved in actual suspicious pneumonia cases because he was just an eye doctor.

WHO was informed by China national health authorities on Dec 31, 2019 and the whole world was told about it:

bad quality batches out of how many?  even so, seems even the usa is fighting for chinese masks.

 

but who to blame for this one?  the americans for paying double the contract value, in cash, or the chinese for welching on a deal.
