Popular Post ukrules
Yes, saw this on the Thai TV news, then came here to see if anything was mentioned. Seems reasonably sensible, not sure how they're going to police it, especially in outlying areas. I guess this is the 'last chance' to prevent a massive spread, if it fails then it's going to play out over many months as it spreads through the population who go out and mingle with others. Perhaps they just want to keep it that way. If you've got something empirical that justifies your cynicism about the number of cases, let's hear it. If you haven't. what was your point? 16 1 10

Popular Post z42
What's the point? The numbers of covid19 deaths will be astronomical whether or not a curfew is imposed or not. Plus the numbers given up to now are pathetic and an insult to even the stupidest in society. This curfew will just squeeze the life out of the people even more. The country is gonna be in a dreadful state when this thing is declared over and borders open, etc again. If the economy doesn't collapse completely i'll be amazed 38 1 8 6

So u don't watch the footy from UK, u know, when it's on. I go to bed abnormally early so I can wake up at 2 - 3 AM to watch it, back in bed by 5 for another couple of hours. I'm a Cardiff fan, so most times I am back in bed early.

Popular Post outsider
A move in the right direction, I'd venture. Perhaps even longer hours i.e. curfew from dusk to dawn, instead of 'just' 2200 - 1600 hrs? And restricted movement during the day - this may make it more effective. The government should also consider rolling out an education campaign - showing how the virus is spread etc. Long story short, the need for social distancing. Otherwise, people might be off the streets but huddled in groups at home drinking, eating and partying - which will be contrary to what social distancing - and the curfew - are trying to achieve. And as usual, this being Thailand (and this is not Thai-bashing), the challenge is also enforcement and policing the curfew. Good luck and I honestly hope it works, for the sake of everyone. 7

Shows is the key word. As opposed to ACTUAL. Also if it was actually true that the actual cases here are still low (sadly I don't see how anyone with basic common sense could believe that) severe measures at an "early stage" would be even better news! The more severe the measures, as EARLY as possible give the best odds of avoiding even the beginning of exponential infection rates. But I think exponential infection had already begun here.
