I have an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.  So what?  I use my degree productively rather than teach.

And I do, I run my own company.  Far better monetary rewards than teaching, although I'm not sure about the personal ones? I do enjoy mentoring the juniors though.  Anyway, who said that I teach for a living, I just stated that it qualifies myself to teach at that level?  You do seem to have a terrible habit of reading posts, then misconstruing their content in your desire for an argument or to belittle someone?  Oh and before you try to twist where I earlier stated 'my employers', I'll clarify that as the major contractors that engage the services of myself and my company on a consultancy basis?

Oh-hoo, a pissing math contest? While I have done my time with differential N-plane complex maths (hated it, but part of EE), it really requires no more than understanding x^y for epidemics.

My apologies for picking your post but please ya'll, just stop.

I'm not sure exactly whether the OP is implying that you are more likely to catch it by touching something that has already had the virus transmitted to it but this is exactly what has been implied in the UK from day one and is why to date, they have not really put much emphasis on face masks unless treating someone already infected. The WHO states the following in their report dated 29th March, titled "Modes of transmission of virus causing COVID-19: implications for IPC precaution recommendations":

"Therefore, transmission of the COVID-19 virus can occur by direct contact with infected people and indirect contact with surfaces in the immediate environment or with objects used on the infected person"

Which if you read the report yourself, confirms that it is highly possible to catch it from surfaces that have been contaminated by respiratory droplets from an infected person.

COVID-19 Fatality Rate by AGE:

*Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%). This probability differs depending on the age group. The percentages shown below do not have to add up to 100%, as they do NOT represent share of deaths by age group. Rather, it represents, for a person in a given age group, the risk of dying if infected with COVID-19.

While its currently true that the older and those with pre existing conditions succumb to the virus and die, the exceptions to the rule exist and are tragic, the UK had a 5 year old die yesterday https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-52165443

Also a 13 year old with no pre existing conditions a few days ago https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-52150141

Lets hope the younger generation keep fighting off this killer.

You might be on to something here.

For 10+ years we have had 241 V at my condo in the center of Bangkok, but because of ur post, I just tested: 226 V.

Could be a looming power shortage.

Agreed. The young are our future. Do you happen to know if post mortems were held on the two children you cited? There is a difference between dying OF the virus and WITH and all too often this distinction appears not to be being made.

I will also find many who think the opposite, thats life. What most people fail to comprehend is that just because their choice of media tells them something, it doesnt make it so. Nearly all news outlets whether TV or newspapers (Broadsheet or Tabloid) have their own agendas. I mean Ive had links thrown at me from CNN and the BBC stating things they have an agenda about. Same with the Daily mail and other righty outlets, just because my politics are right wing it doesnt mean I agree with everything they say, sometimes I find those ridiculous too, because I have an open mind and question everything.
Same with this virus, all I have done on here inc other topics, when I have challenged people who tell us the figures are incorrect from the government, my opposers immediately say "Well do you believe those numbers?" The fact is, I dont know but because I think things are likely to be covered up, it wouldnt surprise me if the numbers were higher. I actually expect them to become higher after the mass exodus from Mo Chit a week or so ago and if the virus takes two weeks to develop, we are still in that time frame hoping for the best.

The recent article that said there were 61 new cases in Chonburi got ridiculed by the doom mongers, but in reality, why isnt 61 a valid number for a region? Now dont get me wrong, that figure may only be 61 because of all the people that have left either to the provinces, or farangs returning home, if they had all stayed, then I would agree that 61 was a manufactured figure 100%

I was in Fleet Street most of my working life and can honestly say there was very little pressure in my day to adhere to whatever the official line on any crucial issue of the day.

How times have changed! In a couple of decades, the news media has morphed from public watchdog into a lapdog, publicly licking the boots of its corporate masters and the political pawns their wealth and propagandising clout propel into power.

If you want the truth about anything, you will have to dig far deeper than the superficial offerings of the tame MSM. There are plenty of alternative news sources and specialist blogger out there doing real, investigative journalism. If you are interested, mail me and I'll suggest a few.

Fell free to use Google and find out, I doubt the parents would want an autopsy performed after not even being by the side of their children when they died and trust the doctors word who cared as best they could for them. I doubt carrying out an autopsy is a priority in a very stretched NHS with all the deaths around when your patients have been struggling on a ventilator and died after testing positive.

Anyway the 13 year old did not have an autopsy https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/ismail-mohamed-abdulwahab-no-postmortem-coronavirus-a4404116.html

If you're interested in the 5 year old then I suggest following up in a couple of days on Google as the death only occurred yesterday.

As I suspected, no autopsies and therefore no proof that COVID 19 was responsibie for these tragedies - which will go down in the records as caused by the virus.

If thats the logic you're using then every death throughout the world attributed and diagnosed as Covid that has not had an autopsy after death to re confirm the previous diagnosis means there's no proof that they died of Covid!

Common sense states that some deaths will slip though and may be caused by other reasons such as heart attack, however that heart attack would probably not have happened had it not been for the COVID infection. Get a grip

The only grip that truly matters in the current health crisis is on reality, which means either knowing or not knowing the cause of death before it is attributed.

Children at miniscule risk of dying of COVID 19, even if they contract the virus. It would make sense to confirm such an unlikely occurence with a PM or at least a viral load test.

Accurate data is essential for a proportional resonse to the latest viral outbreak. Using your logic (sic), leads to mass misdiagnosis, already widespread, and revealed in extremis in Italy, where the official death rate was unaccountably high until a study revealed the reason.

Professor Walter Ricciardi, an adviser to the Italian minister of health told the Telegraph that the way deaths were being coded was "very generous" - i.e. all hospital patients who died with the coronavirus weere deemed to be dying of the coronavirus.

That kind of statistical "generosity", wherever it arises, we can do without.

Well in the absence of autopsy's where countries are overwhelmed by the crisis and its just not possible, best then to solve this problem rather easily by just adding the caveat that all statistics and diagnosis on deaths are subject to final autopsy, done.

In the mean time I'll take the stats that governments publish at face value taking into account a variety of possible caveats until or if that changes.

I think it's called Hobson's choice!
