Popular Post watthong
I knew that Atkinson's head was placed on the chopping block the moment his name is made known to the general public. His boss McGuire managed to survive and came out of this "whistleblower episode" somewhat unscathed by playing the spineless servant supine to the White House, we saw proof of that on the Congress hearing floor (how many times did I wince at the spectacle of McGuirre chewing his own tongue.) The USA has been living under the "madness of King George" for the last three years and a half. When the leader's personal opinions such as "I don't like (or I like) him/her, He/she's a disgrace or he/she does a wonderful job (see Acosta)" are taken as bona fide official statement, you know what the consequences are gonna be (talentless, dimmed bulb of a son-in-laws runs the covid defense supply chain, crooks get pardonned and upstanding officials' heads roll, etc.) The USA is no longer a democracy as we know it when things like this happens and the citizenry simply gulp. As it did when Senate fell the impeachment inquiry. Possibly the MAGA body-snatching crowd is taking over... The surprise and shock for me is the world is still taken aback every time this happens. It's like pointing at a mental asylum inmate smearing "sh*t" on the wall and saying, "gosh, but this is really crazy." Duh. Supreme Court, State Department, DOJ, the Army, the Navy, numerous other government institutions ad nauseum, now all serve Trump instead of the american people. They work for him or rather try to hold on to their position and their pension by blind obeisance to the orange madman. No, I don't hate Trump. It's just my natural gag reflex whenever I ingest something alien to my body's constitution, like pah lah (fermented fish they put in somtam if you forget to specify "somtam thai") 3 1

Looks like Trump broke you too. Man up....he talks direct. He nailed it on the IG. Come November you can vote Biden. Oh wait, you...vote...in a US election? Specifically, what did he ignore? Probably ignore the seriousness of the virus and ignore any advise to have a proper travel restriction plan. Since Chinese officials disclosed the outbreak of a mysterious pneumonia-like illness to international health officials on New Year’s Eve, at least 430,000 people have arrived in the United States on direct flights from China, including nearly 40,000 in the two months after President Trump imposed restrictions on such travel, according to an analysis of data collected in both countries. The bulk of the passengers, who were of multiple nationalities, arrived in January, at airports in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Newark and Detroit. Thousands of them flew directly from Wuhan, the center of the coronavirus outbreak, as American public health officials were only beginning to assess the risks to the United States. 2

candide
2 hours ago, Logosone said: On 31 December Wuhan CDC admitted that there was a cluster of unknown pneumonia cases related to Huanan Seafood Market after the unverified documents appeared on the Internet, but it was not yet clear that this was a coronavirus to anyone but a handful of people in China. China immediately reported these to the WHO but it was not clear what it was. At that stage it could still have been mere pneumonia cases. Only on 11 January did a Shanghai lab publish the genome of the new virus, when it was clear beyond doubt that it was a coronavirus. Remember that was the date the first death happened from coronavirus, 11 January. https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3052966/chinese-laboratory-first-shared-coronavirus-genome-world-ordered The first case in the US was on 21 January. On January 30th the WHO declared a health emergency. One day later Trump stopped flights from China. With the exception of Italy this was perhaps the earliest response of any western government outside China. Germany stopped flights from China on March 16th. That is one month and half later than Trump. So whilst, yes, in hindsight the Chinese acted swiftly and gave the West a window of opportunity, this was squandered and ideally Trump should have reacted earlier, but even the WHO did not react until 30th January and no other western nation acted much earlier than the US. You should update your data. Germany started cancelling flights on January 29, Australia on Feb 1, France Feb 4, etc... Trump was not late for the ban, but not particularly early either. Most countries implemented travel restrictions at latest the first week of February. https://www.thinkglobalhealth.org/article/travel-restrictions-china-due-covid-19 1
