The governor of Nakhon Phanom province in Thailand's north east has issued more regulations ramping up Covid-19 restrictions.

No foreigners can enter the province unless they have a letter of permission from the governor.

This is principally designed to stop any migrant workers from Laos entering the province. With business grinding to a total halt the migrants are surplus to requirements at this time.

The Friendship 3 bridge remains open for Thais to come back.

But any Thai returnee must observe a 14 day quarantine if they have been in Laos for 5 hours or more.

Governor Sayam Sirimongkhon warned boat operators against giving lifts across the Mekhong River to people and promised heavy fines and jai;l terms for violators.
