webfact Posted April 6, 2020 Share Posted April 6, 2020 Koh Chang: Dozens of hotels no longer accepting tourists Picture: Siam Rath Siam Rath reported that tourism officials and tourism business leaders had persuaded dozens of hotels on Koh Chang to stop accepting tourists to help limit the spread of Covid-19. The media said that 90 so far had closed and it would be 100 very soon. Some were on the mainland in Trat but most were on the island. They said that there are 500 foreigners on the island who are stranded. They have undergone rigorous health checks. Picture: Siam Rath There are just a few ferry trips daily going to and from the island. The only vehicles are Koh Chang or Trat residents and trucks carrying essential supplies. The whole province is now closed off to anyone else. The media published the following list of 83 closes places that are no longer accepting tourists: 1. Marina Sand Resort 2. Little Sunshine 3. Those that are still on the island will be able to find accomodation for the duration. nemo38 Posted April 9, 2020 Share Posted April 9, 2020 We had to pass through 5 check points, where the police checked us with temperature guns or thermal cameras, to get to Koh Chang. There are very few tourists here. If you are already at a hotel, you can renew at that hotel, like I did yesterday. There are still hotels taking new guests, so you can change hotels. There is a check point blocking people travelling south from the little village beyond lonely beach. Looking at deaths so far, and comparing them to a normal flu year, Covid-19 isn't exceptional.
