I believe this is going to be a rolling extension, there is no way this will be sorted by the 30th of april. Im hoping they keep extending it past June. My permission to stay ends on June 2nd. Hopefully some borders will open up so i can go get my non-o.
Oxx
So, if one's already on extension of stay one still has to go to Immigration to extend? 1

Popular Post BritTim
Am I the only one who thinks "The person whose visas have expired ..." is intended to mean "anyone whose permission to stay has expired ..."? I recall a case from yesterday when someone was told by immigration that his second extension of a visa exempt was no longer necessary, as it was now automatic. I am too used to immigration calling every stamp they put in your passport a "weezah", and strongly suspect that this is just a rushed announcement with horrendous wording.

Popular Post alw22
I'm surprised but happy they've allowed expired tourist visa the automatic extension. My visa exemption extension expired March 27 and I was unsuccessful in getting the covid extension, so I just made the cut-off. 20K thb saved ????

Popular Post NamH2O
So this means the New Immigration office at Pattaya 7 School will now not be required,as it was going to be for those who need an extension of stay due to Covd-19. Funny the office in Soi 5 Pattaya were still issuing fines for overstay yesterday. My wife was one of many having to pay for overstay. 3

Note that those who do not subscribe to Hanlon's razor might choose to assume a different reason for the botched wording. Immigration has been resisting these measures due to the impact on their income from agent assisted extensions. Those of a suspicious nature might wonder if the wording is a way of circumventing the PM's obvious intent, and try to force those on long term extensions to continue to attend. At the least, it might provide what unscrupulous agents need to assure their marks that they still need to pay to get the extension. 3
Popular Post ubonjoe
By reading the actual order it appears they will extending the April 30th date as needed until the emergency is over. April 30th was the day set last month when they first wrote the request for the change. It took the government until the 7th to approve it. And then have it posted in the royal gazette on the 8th that put it into effect.
