webfact
Gambling with their health as well as money: 108 Thais arrested at Hi-Lo casino near Bangkok Picture: Sanook Residents concerned about the potential spread of Covid-19 contacted the Department of Provincial Administration to tell them there was a gambling den in their soi. Fifty officers led by Ranarong Thipsiri went to investigate in Soi Phibul Songkhram 32 in Suan Yai, Muang, Nonthaburi, north west of the capital Bangkok. Arrested were 108 gamblers, reported Sanook. And there was more than 200,000 baht on the tables. Thaivisa notes that gambling dens operate relatively openly all over Thailand. But since the Covid-19 pandemic started to grip there are more reports about locals reporting the operations of the dens as they fear the spread of the coronavirus among closely packed patrons. Popular Post stephenterry
Well done, the locals. Yet another insight into the selfish behaviour of a large percentage of Thais who couldn't give a dime about the consequences of infection for them and others they mix with. 16
Popular Post TooBigToFit
Amazing. It's just amazing. And Indonesia has the problems? I still see a lot of crowds at the food markets and supermarkets. Why is Thailand so immune from this virus compared to some other nations?

Thailand logarithmic chart starts of expo. then the curve flattens and now has gone expo again. Seems very unusual to have a flattened curve when restrictions came into play quite late. Now that the restrictions are in place its gone expo again. Indonesia has started of in expo and has keep going up. You can tell that Thailand has fiddled with the figures without doubt.

CrunchWrapSupreme
Thailand's rife with gambling. I've seen friends of the family with phones out on gambling sites, lists of sports matches and odds, and doing bank transfers. I've been to nightclubs showing sports matches streaming from pirate sites, with advertisements for said gambling sites running along the bottom. I know of one province with some abandoned looking factories, you drive up at night, say the magic words or something, then get to see Vegas inside. Woo-hoo! OneeyedJohn
108 gamblers and 200,000 on tables, well unless they had 100's of 1000's more in their pockets, that is not such a big deal. But money isn't the issue here, it is their rank stupidity and selfishness. They should be locked up in the <deleted>t ie st of military quarantines available for the duration.

Either way they are all spreaders. 200k/108 gamblers=these are not hi-rollers both financially or intellectualy.
manhood
Another proof that many THAIS not care very much....neither they realise how dangerous the covit 19 virus will be for themselves, their families and friends. But also there isn't any open discussion abou the effects of this virus in soooo many cases. Only the government decides action, never people of Thailand are involved. As they know the government lies, so why should they follow!

It's quite popular with "common people". Could go as low as 20 Baht bet per round. But if they get heated up they will throw 1000 Baht notes. In Germany the "bank" (single mat) could end up with a few thousand Euros after a long evening. And there were no hisos in sight. gk10002000
can only imagine the penalties if 4 farangs were caught playing bridge for points, or pegging on the cribbage board to pass the time. I grew up in the USA playing all sorts of card games, Rummy 50-, Gin, Canasta, Cribbage, Hi Low Jack or Pitch, etc. We never played for money. Heck we did not have any money to gamble with.
