Drove through at 10am, Suk, Pattaya Tai, Darkside ; not a road block in sight, so they had better get their running shoes on if they want to establish them by 2pm

I just went down the railroad tracks and all the small roads are barricaded.  I also saw several trucks with concrete barriers queued up on sukhumvit.

Pattaya goes into lockdown from 2pm today

Pattaya city will shut down from 2pm on Thursday (April 9), Chonburi Governor Pakarathorn Thienchai announced on Wednesday (April 8 ) following advice from the Chonburi Communicable Disease Control Committee.

“The shutdown will last 21 days and will limit entry points to the city to only five,” he said. “All vehicles and persons passing through these checkpoints will be thoroughly screened to prevent the spread of Covid-19.”

The governor added that those who are not residents of the city or do not have a workplace in the city will not be allowed in except in emergency cases.

Sukhumvit Road leading to Pattaya will be closed at Krathingrai flyover where traffic will be redirected to Liab Thang Rot Fai Road instead. The five checkpoints that will still be open are:

1 Soi Chaiporn Withi

2 Motorway Route 7 Section 5

3 Soi Pornprapha Nimit

4 Soi Chaiyaphreug

5 Sukhumvit Road (before the District Attorney Office)

The governor issued an order that all people in Pattaya must wear face masks in public. He also amended a previous closure order and allowed some markets to reopen to reduce crowds in markets that had been allowed to open during the government’s shutdown order.

“Those who have a necessity to travel can apply for permission at any district office,” added the governor.

Yes, I'd like to know also.

Many kids playing every afternoon without masks.

Of course. It's outside. You are not a separate nation state. Viruses ignore security gates.

Why feel the need to distinguish between foreigners and Thais, everyone is in this together. It's unfortunate ThaiVisa is pushing the foreigner/Thai distinction with the stories it is highlighting, some issues are more important that clickbait revenue.

Well to be fair thais seem better at following the mask rules, you always get the odd maverick falang

The new directive says "all to wear masks outside" cannot be any plainer than that

Within a housing village who will issue the fines.

It's a gated community.

I can only imagine how horendes the traffic in Pattaya will be for the next couple weeks where a whole city traffic is diverted to a handful of checkpoints which is according to the Pattaya administration is done so to discourage people from going outside.

Name places in Jomtien, pratumnak, Naklua, khoa Talo where they can be purchased...I think that's the problem, they are just not easily available and haven't been for 6 weeks...I'm more worried about people...Thais especially that touched my trolley in Makro for no reason and come right close to you at any 7/11....

walk along soi Buakhao you'll see lot's of seamstress women making the masks, also on Pattaya Tai past tukcom shops are selling them. Also pharmacies have them, one example is the Pharmacy at the top of Soi Diana.

There isn't a good choice, surgical masks are probably the best ones you'll find, most people wear the cotton ones

Really? Are you serious? Of course they mean that´s the place where most will get caught. However, if people see you walking without mask anywhere and report you, you WILL be fined. Exactly like it should be. Maybe this will get rid of irresponsible people risking other peoples health.

why are you talking cobblers? he was asking where he will be checked for a passport, the answer is at the new checkpoints per the announcement.  Around town, wearing a mask its unnecessary carrying your passport but you go ahead

Give your comments some thought before replying.

The article states

Failure to wear a mask when outside may result in fines or even jail.

no officials at home, it's gated

No, it´s not unnecessary to carry your passport. That is one of the things you are always told to do. I even believe that it´s written in the law.
