It wasn't Soi Chaiyaporn, it is in South Pattaya. Would you mind telling us the actual checkpoint you went through, for our future reference, and so people can try and avoid it. Maybe a bit more description (example: came up SSCC to the railway road, and police were on the left, right. on the tracks etc).

Sorry to ask, but all info at this point (ie: first day) is important.

Thank you if can .

It was soi 'Chai Yaporn Withi Road' few hundred meters from Thanon Sukumvit intersection in Nakluea, as per print screen I took of my location on Google Maps. I am not familiar with that area as I was with thousand others were just being herded by various police points all the way from Nong Pla Lai area. It was chaotic.

I now read that the check point has been removed and that would not surprise me, it was a nightmare for me on a motorbike. For people in cars must have been really terrible. i noticed the cops were waving through few vehicles without any check (I suppose to ease the gridlock).

If that check point is still there tomorrow, with same poor management, Thai people might start a riot.

Richard Barrow just tweeted the roadblocks are lifted because they couldn't cope with the traffic 😂😄

I would never have guessed that could happen! 😂

see the social distancing..............nah  nor  me

There was another massive line for free food in South Pattaya (soi 18) close to 3rd road junction. There were many taxi drivers in the queue along with many good dressed young men and women. The view shocked me, sign of the times we are in. Its going to be ugly after few more weeks or months with poor, hungry and desperate masses.

Were they social distancing?

Posted (edited)

Just talked to my (RTP) neighbour and he confirmed no more barricades.

A lot of people didn't think they'd last long due to the amount of traffic. They barely lasted 12 hours !

I'm guessing the Mayor will make an announcement after he gets to work (which will be easier now that the barricades are gone). Maybe they will relocate them so that Nong Prue and Pong and the lower half of Jomtien are within the quarantine zone ?

OMG.  And every, single Thai person in Chonburi were wearing masks!!!  Only those evil farangs!!!

Not your problem now.  The cops will fine them if caught.  Then you can giggle with glee.

This morning on Pattaya beach road and walkway, many brown and whites with no mask or mask pulled down. At least 3 moto cops going down the road, no one got a second look.

There are also conspiracy groups that think it's the 5G network that is causing the covid virus.
One group was even claiming that the 8:00 "clap" in the UK was actually secretly a cover to hide the noise when they test the 5G network there.

And the Chinese themselves have even given up on the idea that this originated from eating animals sold at a market. Instead, state run media (and apparently some senior Chinese officials) have been promoting the idea that the virus was developed by the US army and planted in Wuhan by them. (According to one source, the idea originated in Russia and was picked up and spread by the Chinese).
https://globalnews.ca/news/6793733/coronavirus-conspiracy-theories-russia-china/https://globalnews.ca/news/6793733/coronavirus-conspiracy-theories-russia-china/

One thing that isn't a conspiracy theory is that last July, the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) escorted a Chinese scientist out of the Class 4 Bio Research lab she (and her students) had been working in. Apparently she was being investigated for "policy breaches" but they wouldn't go into detail about what those breaches were.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/chinese-researcher-escorted-from-infectious-disease-lab-amid-rcmp-investigation-1.5211567

That same scientist apparently also worked at the Level 4 lab the Chinese built - in Wuhan. Just a coincidence of course, not a conspiracy.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/national-microbiology-lab-scientist-investigation-china-1.5307424

And seriously, do you think the Chinese would plan this, then infect their own people and just "hope" that it spread around the world ? Even if they weren't too concerned about their own people the risk of it spreading throughout China unchecked would have been too great.
Much better ways to spread a virus than that.

Mao starved millions of Chinese to death. I doubt the CCP would care about killing Chinese if it advanced their plans.

Lockdown now cancelled, authorities clueless there would be traffic chaos, would be more clever to have checkpoints more outside!

They are so slow in taking this matter seriously resulting in huge infection rates. Should have been done long time ago. Just a bad government. A child would have blocked China knowing the virus came from there. Unbelievable performance by Pinnochio.

A friend just posted this on his timeline:

Seems pretty clear. Your village/moo ban is not your home, it is where your home is located.

So basically, step outside your house onto a soi anywhere, for any reason, you'd better be wearing a mask.

Don't forget that there are a lot of people who would probably love to call a "hot line" to report someone for not wearing a mask. Think about the recent stories of old foreigners suddenly having a "smart car" show up at their house - because someone in the neighbourhood decided to call the authorities on him.

exactly The chinese top brass could not care less about the death of millions of its own people..This virus only adversely affects countries that care about their peoples well being.
