Four groups of people will automatically receive free Covid-19 testing as they are considered patients under investigation, Dr Taweesilp Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Wednesday (April 8).

They include:

1 Those who have a travel history to any foreign country and show symptoms of respiratory distress including coughing, runny nose, sore throat, difficulty in breathing and temperature over 37.3 degrees Celsius.

2 Patients in medical facilities who show symptoms of respiratory distress and have temperature over 37.5 degrees Celsius, as well as fitting either one of the following criteria: Having a career that involves public contact, having been to crowded areas, used to be in contact with a Covid-19 patient. All patients in medical facilities who have pneumonia will also get a free Covid-19 test.

3 Medical staff who have contact history with a Covid-19 patient and show symptoms of respiratory distress as well as have temperature over 37.5 degrees Celsius.

4 Those involved in cluster group cases, be they at least three medical staff or five people who are from the same place, and show symptoms of respiratory infection but test negative for any type of flu.

As of April 8, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 2369 -- 1,451 are under treatment of whom 23 are in a critical condition -- 888 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 30 deaths.

This statement suggests to me that EVERYONE who tests positive ("confirmed cases"), symptomatic or otherwise, is placed in a medical facility, from which they mostly (97%) recover.

the problem won't stop until affordable testing is available

most people who have it try to hide it and stay at home, spreading it to healthy family members, as they don't want to pay the medical bill and/or be incarcerated for 2 weeks

37.3 degrees is now a potential Covid sympton? Strewth - many people get to that temperature by walking from the car park in the midday sun into Tesco or Makro!

Happy that mine was 35.7 this morning ????

Stay safe everyone.

Surely anyone in Hoz' with any form of respiratory ailment should have been tested on admission knowing that is what the virus attacks ..

Same pneumonia which is known to develop as a direct consequence of C V so there again would you not test someone with pneumonia symptoms for C V on admission ..

They are being too selective about this now .. All medi' staff treating people should be tested as a matter of course and regularly .. this 3 or 5 or tested for other flu's is too hit and miss .. Cost of the test's got anything to do with such a selective approach ? even though they had to mention it is free to those eligible ..

which is tacky ..

Don't waste time on half measures.  Just plan to test everyone.  This might come back year after year.

That funny squelchy noise you can hear is vax king "Chill" Bill Gates rubbing his sweaty hands in glee.

I would never walk into any place and freely give them a opportunity to cage me, because some cheap Chinese thermomitor said I was in fever range.  But many would, just because its free? I believe many will be selectively removed from society, soon, by using this "toy"weapon.

good point. another thing is infection can also cause a drop in temperature aka hypothermic  as in hypothermic sepsis.  i usually register 35 on the big c thermal camera but never questioned
