The Finance Ministry is set to waive custom duty for medical supplies that can be used to treat and prevent Covid-19 in line with the Cabinet’s resolution to allocate supplies for hospitals across the nation, Deputy Finance Minister Santi Promphat said on Friday (April 10).

The ministry will exempt 66 items of duty, including 18 medicines, eight pharmaceutical chemicals, 36 types of medical equipment, as well as four sterilisers and hazardous substances. The items also include the Favipiravir drug, Covid-19 test reagent, N95 masks, surgical gowns, security glasses, powered air-purifying respirator, sodium hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide.
