Popular Post rooster59 17,828
Pattaya officials revise lockdown plans - new checkpoints to be set up Officials in Pattaya have updated the details of the city’s lockdown put in place to help combat the spread of the coronavirus. The full lockdown, which began on Thursday, was quickly thrown into chaos after large tailbacks and traffic congestion formed as people queued to pass through one of 1 of 5 checkpoints set up around the city. Officials said the main cause of the traffic congestion resulted from people not trying to enter Pattaya city but trying to travel to the east of Pattaya or to places such as Sattahip or Chonburi town. On Friday, officials held an urgent meeting where the details of the lockdown - namely the location of the checkpoints - were revised. Previously people had to pass through one of five checkpoints: Point 1 Soi Chaiyapornwithee Point 2 Motorway Road 7 section 5 (in front of highway patrol) Point 3 Phon Prapha Nimit (in front of mae la grilled fish shop) Point 4 Soi Chaiyapruek (before the intersection of railroad in front of coffee shop) Point 5 Sukhumvit Road before the prosecutor's office (under the overpass in front of na jomtien temple) Following the meeting on Friday, officials said the old checkpoints will be removed and new ones set up in the following locations: At Mareewit School Near Mueang Jamlong Entrance to Pattana Nua (North Pattaya) at the Prinya Sai 3 intersection Pattaya Klang (Central Pattaya) at Soi Arunothai Pattaya Tai (South Pattaya) at Soi Kophai Thepprasit Intersection Intersection near Boon Kanjanagaram Temple I-yakan Intersection The new checkpoints will be in place by Tuesday (14 April) for at least three weeks or longer, if the situation does not improve. When passing through a checkpoint, people will have their temperature taken and should show their ID. Foreigners should show their passport. Meanwhile, Pattaya’s mayor stressed on Friday that the lockdown had not been cancelled as previously reported. The lockdown is still very much in effect, only the locations of some checkpoints have been changed. Canuck1966 4,840
In addition to changing the locations of the checkpoints, authorities will focus their attention on securely locking down an inner part of the city where about 2,800 foreign tourists are staying and most of the infections have occurred, starting on Tuesday.

Popular Post eddie61 1,391
I don’t suppose they would consider opening the motorway, that showpiece of the EEC, which has been years in construction, and is now finished and lying fallow. Probably it has already done what it was designed to do, now that the budget has been spent. Let’s keep it for a rainy day.... 6 1

There is a major section NOT finished. Not large, could be completed in a few days, but there is a reason it's not finished us minions aren't allowed to know. Some stupid politics I'm sure. 7 1

sungod 4,645
Seems most of the big supermarkets on Sukhumvit may be more accessible now, so little need to go into the city center.

Popular Post Peterw42 13,489
There have been some new check points set up where I am. Travelling from the balcony to the kitchen this morning there was a checkpoint asking If I have showered yet. Random stops in the lounge area throughout the day asking if hungry. No alcohol ban in place as yet but some checkpoints near the refrigerator where consumption is being questioned. Edited April 11, 2020 by Peterw42 6 1

I can go from Na Jomtien all the way to Pattaya Nua without ever hitting a major road. 1
