rooster59 Posted April 11, 2020 Share Posted April 11, 2020 Chiang Mai and Covid-19: Good news, no new cases and quarantine being observed Image: Daily News Health officials in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand held a coronavirus pandemic briefing for the press on Friday. Dr Kittiphan Chalorm said there had been no new cases to add to the total that remained at 40. Twelve had gone home and 28 were still undergoing treatment. A previously seriously ill patient is on the way to recovery. The doctor said that 10,599 people had come back to the province from Bangkok and surrounding provinces. Of these 6,994 have completed 14 day quarantine and 3,605 continue to do so at home. There are 1,385 who went into quarantine after arriving from abroad. Of these 1,215 have completed 14 day quarantine and 166 are continuing to do so at home. Four returnees are still being sought. It would be remarkable if the MPH can accurately track the return of people to the province. Monitoring public transportation and the roads entering the province is quite a new development and, in any case, probably incompete. But a good effort! All in all, given the migrant labor from Chiang Mai down south and the traditional return of people to be with families for Song Kran, the number of cases should increase in the province even with the preventative measures now in place.
