Popular Post webfact
Nonthaburi reverses plan to reopen shops By THE NATION Twenty-four hours after announcing shops would be allowed to reopen despite the government lockdown, Nonthaburi governor Sujin Chaichumsak made rapid a U-turn on Tuesday (April 14), when he ordered the shops to remain shut. On Monday, Sujin had given the green light to reopen barbers, beauty salons, courier services, lottery stalls, office equipment stores, construction material shops, furniture shops, and stores dealing with computers, electrical appliances and kitchenware. But after reversing that decision, Sujin ordered that only shops providing mobile phone and communications-related services located in department stores will be allowed to open from April 15 onward. They must also provide screening and hand-sanitiser gel for all customers, social distancing measures to keep customers at least one metre apart, facilities for senior citizens. The wearing of face masks or face shields must also be mandatory for all in the shops. The ban on the sale of alcohol in Nonthaburi has been extended for 10 days, from April 20 to 30.
