Police in Krabi gave chase after they saw a motorcycle with two boys aboard being driven in contravention of the 10pm to 4am curfew on Monday night/Tuesday morning.

A three minute video being shared on social media showed the police patrol car chase the boys who were on a 125 cc Honda Wave.

The high speed chase around Krabi ended at Soi Maharat 41 when the driver "A" lost control. He managed to run off into the darkness.

Pillion passenger "B", 13, was arrested and charged with violating the curfew. His parents were contacted.

"B" said that he and his mate had gone to a friend's house around 1 am to get a SIM card. They were on their way back when the police spotted them.

Police are looking for "A" and have impounded his motorcycle.

2 kids on a bike (one was 13) on a deserted road and that prompted a high speed police chase with all lights and sirens active.

The use of police sirens is to alert a community that a cop is on their way to a call. By sounding their sirens, and activating lights, cops are asking for the right of way.

Yep.  Warning the non-existent traffic!!  Their actions could have caused serious injury or death.  Keystone comes to mind.

While sometimes the police is indeed overreacting, like kicking bikes which don't stop, or firing shots, i don't see any problem with them just following guys on a motorbike who are breaking the law.

While the streets are mostly empty, there can still be people on the road, so it makes sense to warn them by using the siren. It also makes it clear for the motorbike driver that they are serious about him stopping.

Imho in this case the actions of the police were justified.
