It's not the one or two people at the beach. We all want to go to the beach. The problem that arises is when the few become hundreds and then thousands. Consider the big picture and what happens when crowds gather. This was demonstrated  by the mass spread of infections following spring break in Florida, and after february/march  holidays in the EU. Thailand is doing the right thing here. Try and look at the big picture. A little bit of downtime isn't the end of the world. let's consider the good of others. Pattaya has a very large population of at risk foreigners ( elderly with high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease) and it doesn't take much to kill them once Covid 19 hits.

Yes, i am not young either, and i respect your wisdom, my point is that the overreaction to this so called pandemic, will have a destructive effect on the lives of everyone, from the youngest to the eldest.

Poverty, hunger, desperation, will soon make appear the virus like a silly joke imho.

It already has and will take years to be undone. Many lives have and will continue to be impacted due to the fact that jobs were lost and families separated from their loved ones by flights being stopped for those incoming......so take a chill pill. Whats done is done, accept the facts as they are. Whining won't help the situation.  The people were arrested because they disobeyed warnings, orders and a government directive.

A Thai, apparently an owner of a shop at the ChatuChak market, is sitting there without a mask.

As this picture is from a very well known newspaper, and thus seeing by many, there is no doubt he will soon be arrested and fined. 

Or than, being Thai, maybe nothing will happen.

In Victoria / Australia it is illegal to fly a kite.

In England at one stage it was illegal pretending to be a witch, but OK if you were one. There are many more of those laws.

 

Sometimes I encourage Civil disobedience, but this means that you have a more in depth thought process.

People should understand that even though we may be long term stayers here in Thailand, it is not our country.  At any moment your stay as a guest can and may be revoked and you may or will be refused a continued Visa extension, or re-entry into the country based upon your past actions. We are only guests, and even though we live here the rules made are not ours to break, or you face the consequences whether or not you like them or not.  Do what you will, but I try and do the right things, which are necessary, for myself and my family.  Enjoy and be safe. If you do not like the rules put in place then you are free to return to whence you came from.  When warnings are given, signs put in place in many languages, locations blocked off, enforcement of these restrictions undertaken, and you still refuse to comply Shame on You, you get what you deserve.

I'm not saying break the rules- even I obey the stupid rules as don't want to suffer even more, but lets not just accept them like sheeple. Let's at least point out they are stupid.

The owner stall renter would be inside the shop. However, being Thai it's doubtful he will suffer any penalty.

Explain why you think someone being made to pay the consequences of breaking rules and regulations would discourage others from visiting.  I would think it might have the opposite effect in that it would make people think that there safety and the security of others was important and visitors would want that.  Maybe I am a little OTT.  How about if you were in your own country, with this sort of ban in place, like it is in many of the other countries, would you break your own countries rules during a period such as this?  If so then you are someone who could care less about others.  I am not condoning the beach closures, but the rules themselves.

I had a stroll along the road by Dongtan Beach yesterday afternoon. I saw at least six cops and a couple of soldiers along there. The cops were telling people who didn't have a face mask to turn around and go home and get one. Just a warning, no fines, and the people i saw just did what they were told. The contractors were putting the finishing touches to the taped-off beach and the multi-lingual signs. They've even got one in French, so the Bolshy Gallic 80-year olds have no excuse!

I can't imagine how many people would how died if they had been allowed to swim as they pleased.

Hopefully with these criminals locked up we get to live another day.

55 people exactly 'declared' dead from the virus.

I know where my priorities would be & not forgetting those road deaths are year & year now.

Road deaths are caused by bad driving for the most part not helmuts or lack of them though of course many would live if they did wear helmuts.

There are many multiple deaths here caused by bad driving & not someone who doesn't wear a helmut

Many Thai drivers are selfish, and a lot therefore cause deathly accident. 

If they want to die, up to them, nobody's business. 

But they also many times kill innocents with their selfish attitude.
