Popular Post webfact
PM calls scrambling for donations at food banks “unacceptable” Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said today that people scrambling for donated items at food banks must stop, describing it as totally unacceptable. The Prime Minister, however, thanked donors for establishing the food banks to help their fellow countrymen and asked the beneficiaries of the charitable donations not to grab everything for themselves, but to think about the others who also need help. Meanwhile, Thai PBS, in cooperation with the SCG Foundation, has started installing food banks at various locations in Bangkok, to help people who are being badly affected by business closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But rather than rely on charity and donations why don't the Gov' front up some food and supplies thereselves so there's more to go around , then folk might not have to do the grabbing everything they can see .. Popular Post brommers
There speaks a man with a full belly every day, flunkies to look after his every whim and has never done a shopping trip with only 30 baht in his pocket in his life. His failure to have even the slightest understanding and care for the common person will be remembered at the ballot box, if there is ever another one. 18

What does he care about the low-life Thai people? 43 years ago I worked with Thai farmers when I was with the US Peace Corps. I got along with the locals, but not my Thai boss in the Land Development Department. Little fat wannabe who seriously threatened a co-worker with death. And he was just the guy who drove the old Russian tractor.
Popular Post ukrules
Government action is the solution to the problem. The government should feed the people who have been put out of work due to government actions against the plague. Either nobody thought of this or they decided to ignore it. I think they decided to ignore it which is strange as we know Thailand is a very wealthy country with many many resources. Why do they treat the people with such disdain? Come on Prayuth - this is your chance to shine, or it could be your 'let them eat cake' moment.
Popular Post stephenterry
It's sad to read this obnoxious diatribe by the PM, who blames hungry people seeking food supplies - even though some are only considering themselves, as is the selfish norm in Thailand. If he had any charitable bone in his body, his message to the Thai people should be requiring governors in every province to set up government food chains, monitored by the army, to alleviate the suffering his government's lockdown has caused. Provision of rice, fruit and vegetables are low cost healthy supplies, and should be distributed free of any charge until the return to work is permitted. 14

Popular Post Grumpy John
I've never been hungry because my parents were good providers but one time a mate and I went on a hunting trip and we were way out in Western NSW when I discovered I had forgotten one of the boxes with the food. So we had tea, sugar and Milo for dinner! Wasn't very satisfying! That was just a short time. It must be hard for the peasant class in Thailand to scrounge for food daily and just knowing that there is a whole class of people who will never feel that pain, never feel the degradation (humiliation?) of standing in a line for a little food and those haves have the power to help those in need but don't make much of an effort to do so. If I was doing it daily I would be pretty well pizzed off by now!

Yes, but most PM's the world over would not call starving people scrambling for food because they only get token government support "unacceptable". He is only concerned about his government losing face, not the poor !!! 7

Colin, you know very well he is buying subs to protect his people from something, what that is he's not sure, but protection is protection, he has even foregone the back-handers in the interest of ensuring the people are safe from this something. Popular Post ThailandRyan
<deleted> does he think people who are desperate should do?. His fleecing of Thailand has left them all fighting for their livelihood, lives, and families. The Mercedes dealership on Rama 4 put out a large cabinet style box at noon yesterday, with food stuffs in it for those who are living in the Area. Within about 30 minutes there was a line on the sidewalk, and it was being handed out by 2 security guards. At least people are taking care of people unlike I see his cronies doing.....

ChipButty
Have any of you guy been given one of the food handouts from the local orbortor? We did get one when I looked what was in it 10kg of rice, 10 eggs, cat food (sardines) cheap packets of noodles and cooking oil and some water I took it knowing I was going to give it away but believe me it was nothing to get excited about the family I did give it too there is 5 of them and they only gave them one bag same as us so that would not last long for them. What I disagreed with they were going around a moo baan houses at 10 to 15 million baht handing out food parcels

If I was doing it daily I would be pretty well pizzed off by now! You do understand that not all the people standing in those handout queues are starving. Many will not miss the opportunity for something free and (if you recall) one well-intention business in Pattaya stopped handouts because they found that a third of the 'needy, were motocy taxi riders going round the handout circuit. For an example of dealing with poverty you should look up country.......... many locals, if they run out of food/money with actively do something to find food - like picking vegetable/fruit from the fields or, if desperate, seek help from the temples. It has been observed that at villages funerals etc the greediest buggers (who fill plastic bags with food to take home) are those who are not in need. The genuine, most humble take just what they need.
