webfact
Motorcyclist "almost beheaded" by hanging wires in Ban Chang Picture: Naew Na Thailand's infamous hanging wires are in the news again. This time a motorcyclist riding home in Ban Chang, Rayong, failed to spot the wires in Soi Tessaban 64. He appeared to have come off his bike and was nearly decapitated, reported Naew Na, before he was helped by a female trader. Kittisak, 25, was taken to hospital by a rescue foundation. Later electrical authorities were on the scene and determined it involved cables owned by a private firm. They cut the wires down and intend to prosecute. Relatives of the victim also arrived at the scene announcing their intentions of prosecuting the firm also. Microsoft founder Bill Gates once posted pictures of the unsightly cables while on holiday in Thailand prompting the Thai PM to spend billions of baht burying them. Much work has been done in Bangkok and other cities such as Pattaya but many cables remain an eyesore in Thailand, notes Thaivisa. Popular Post LennyW
The problem here is that there are so many shops that change hands/occupiers quite often, the new occupiers install cable TV, Phone, Internet etc. which invariably means pulling in new cables, however, they never remove the old ones - just leave them to flap about in the breeze till this happens! Not my job syndrome! 6 1

It's a pity Bill Gates didn't visit Udon too. I was cycling past a local temple two days ago. Just past the entrance there were a load of phone/cableTV/internet cables hanging down. I wasn't even going fast, but one of the low cables just snagged the handlebars of my bicycle, dragging me down. Perhaps if I tell Bill Gates I'll change from Linux to Windows he might visit us?

His lucky day But those wires are an eyesaw and the companies who just throw them on the ground and dont pick them deserve to be prosecuted. But then again most Thais just throw things on the ground

I bet they were coming out of the woodwork scenting baht. It's the same syndrome if you are lucky enough to hit a stray dog; fifteen owners will emerge claiming it. 1

JensenZ
With such a headline one would have at least expected the motorcyclist to be dead, with his neck hanging on by a thread
