Phitsanulok will allow the shopping street in Muang district to reopen on Friday (May 16) after weeks of being shut to prevent the spread of Covid-19 under the government’s order.

The Phitsanulok Municipality Office on Wednesday (May 13) listed measures to maintain social distancing practices and make the shopping street safe for both vendors and shoppers.

Some of the mandatory measures are:

▪︎ All customers and vendors must wear face masks in shopping areas.

▪︎ Shopping areas will have screening checkpoints to allow a maximum 1,146 persons at any given time (calculated from total shopping areas to maintain the density of 4 square metres per person).

▪︎ Hand gel dispensers or hand washing stations shall be installed at all entrances and public bathrooms.

▪︎ Each shop should have a maximum of two vendors interacting with customers.

▪︎ Food stalls will be fitted with plastic partition to prevent small particles falling into foods.

▪︎ Shops are encouraged to use mobile payment or internet banking to reduce the touching of bank notes which could spread the germs.

Phitsanulok shopping street has a total area of 7,625 sqm and can accommodate 760 shops in a normal situation. However, to help ensure social distancing, only half, or 380 shops, will be allowed to open. Vendors can alternate their opening every week.

Wasn't this a province that didn't have a single case of covid?

There haven't been any reported deaths, but I think we had (to date) 6 cases, all of which have recovered and been sent home.
