bert bloggs
just read that due to the Brexit problems with the EU and covid ,the pound could fall to a 35 year low ,,it just seems to get worse ,why is it always the pound ? Link to comment
Popular Post worgeordie
I suspect speculators have a lot to do with the moments in value of the Pound, they see a weakness, and bet against it,the problems for the UK are many and with no good news, expect it to fall more. The whole World seems to be in financial turmoil, historically low interest rates,it seems everything must be done to help those in debt, everything is upside down. regards Worgeordie 11 Link to comment

After 2008 the markets know full-well that the BoE will do nothing whatever to support Sterling. Indeed, under Mark Carney the central bank actively tried to trash the currency (and largely succeeded, too, unfortunately). If you're a trader looking for a safe bet, shorting the pound is a dead cert when there's bad news or lots of uncertainty around. 3 2 1 Link to comment

Popular Post Paul DS
It is not just the UK just that has problems, it is ALL countries that look after there people. Most 1st World Countries have stepped up and "bailed" out industries, they have assisted everyone with Government aided income, they have massively upped there medical services, they are doing everything possible to maintain a real life with a future. What has Thailand done? Nothing, (apart from a few gifts of cash ie 1-5000 bant) There businesses simply close. (Think about Thai Airways, maybe going Bankrupt absolving them of investor debts) There medical services continue as before (have you ever been to Banglamung Hospital and seen patients lying on the floor) (apart from miracle herbal cures!) 1000's standing in a line wating for a meal...not assisted though from the Junta Government. Its back to the villages, farming a meagre existence. Do you REALLY believe the infection / death rate in Thailand? If you looked you will see that virtually all the countries that have a low rate are poor destitute countries, ie Sudan, Yemen, Iran, North Korea, Haiti, Mozambique, Venezuala, Congo, Morocco, etc etc and of course Thailand! Enough said!! Thailand has no state debt, because they do not look after there country! Edited May 18, 2020 by Paul DS 2 1 2 2 Link to comment

And the Euro is doing so wonderfully well at the moment! With Germany in recession, looking likely for a double dip of Covid 19 and with an economy that was tanking even without the virus pandemic; with German courts ruling against the supremacy of EU courts and EU law; with Italians looking completely fed up with the EU; with Poles and Hungarian governments getting further away from the Brussels bureaucrats ideology and dictatorial attitudes; etc etc etc There might not be an EU as such much longer. Germany getting fed up with funding France's toy. 6 3 Link to comment

Yes, your right about the debt and worries about servicing it, regrading of credit ratings etc. Unfortunately the developed world has a history of turning to war at times like this. Great way to divert the plebs attention and control them; and helps with the natural cull too! Let's hope not. Too many nutter leaders at the moment though - and all seem to be itching to change the world order again - which always means calamity for the masses. 1 Link to comment

Belgium,Spain and Italy have higher death rates (per capita) and uk is similar to France. Brexit has already happened, the transition period Is what it is in now. Even the new Labour leader Keir Starmer doesn’t advocate extending. Apart from ALL that you’re quite accurate ???? 2 1 Link to comment
