Hua Hin hotels officially allowed to re-open - now just waiting for tourists

The lifting of restrictions that means hotels in Hua Hin could open yesterday has been met with a lukewarm response from the industry.

Prachuap Khirikhan TAT rep Soraya Hormcheun told Siam Rath that only 30 hotels in the area - around ten per cent of TAT registered facilities - had opened.

She said there were just no tourists to warrant opening for many hotels who were not ready to comply with new regulations anyway.

However, cleaning and planning for a new normal was taking place.

She said her staff had called some hotels who were not answering their phone - this she assumed meant they were still shut.

Some plan to reopen on Friday but others are waiting until June.

She urged hotels that open to tell the TAT so that they can be put on the TAT Prachuap page.

i just want to get the hell out of this town.

i don't care if I have to walk naked to Bangkok just get me out of here.

Why you just dont go? Many people travel return from hua hin to bkk without issues at all and they have been doing it for weeks already. I also went twice in the last 3 weeks. No problems at all.

I come here every year from Nepal on vacation, right about now for several weeks. I love Hua Hin. Reminds me so much of the Jersey shore where I'm from. We used to go to a place called Seaside Heights NJ, which looked a lot like HH Beach now, but no boardwalk. Very nostalgic place for me, and a great place for a family vacation. But sadly, we won't be coming this year. Hopefully next year...

what about lifting the travel ban?

Exactly. I last visited Hua Hin in February (from Bangkok) and would be back in a heartbeat, once it is clear that interprovincial travel is allowed for tourism.

NCC:

There are hotels open in Bangkok and Pattaya now.

I would inquire with a few transport or private car services.

People are traveling now of course.  Many of these services can assist with the forms necessary to

get to another province/city if there are checkpoints.

You would probably be fine coming to Pattaya.

Bangkok possibly when you return back to HH, you may have to do a voluntary 14 day quarantine.

In any event, I would check it out with one of these services to get info.

Well, closing airports for another six weeks or so will not really fill vacant rooms and Thais have a few other problems - MAJOR problems - on their plate before they consider burning cash in overpriced and - in my opinion - pretty boring Hua Hin.

And will we be allowed to sit at the same table with our own family members or do we need to scatter across the province for a lunch? ????

Only 1 person per hotel room.

You do understand that "boring" is part of the appeal of a weekend getaway from BKK, right?

And one of the things I liked about Thailand is that a weekend away, feet kicked up and relaxing, was just about as cheap as staying in town and entertaining myself.
