Not sure if it´s possible for the old farang pensioners to get a herd immunity. I guess most of them will not survive an infection. Also many will get a financial problem if they are infected because they have no health insurance. 2

You read, that young people and sportsmen become infected too? Mostly they don´t die - but they often need treatments in hospitals. Do you think that Thailand´s hospitals can manage ten thousands of additional patients in a short time? Do you know that lung cancer is the most often death reason in the north because the bad air? This means that many people in the north have lung problems what makes Covid-19 very dangerous for them. How do you you want to protect the old people when young people live with their parents and grand parents in the same home, what is very common in Thailand? Popular Post Shot
Of course the young become infected, many don't know they had it, some require treatment, but many don't. Unfortunately, that is life and death. My kids are not responsible for someones bad decisions, or where they happen to live. Life is not fair, no matter where you are from . Grand children, children, parents, grand parents, will survive. Herd immunity is the only way.

Another thing to consider is that obesity is a major covid risk factor, no matter the age. From what I've seen from the bars in Pattaya, there are some younger punters who may feel invincible, but might consider eating a couple of salads while in lockdown before heading out to crowded bars. 3 1

We did this in the IKEA restaurant in Mega Bangna this evening. They put big X's on the seats across from each other, so you have to sit facing diagonally. A bit silly, but not as silly as the plastic screens in nearly every other place. To celebrate the reopening, the famous Swedish Meatball set is half off, only 60 baht! Mashed potatoes, broccoli, cranberry sauce, and 8 meatballs. Man they are good, should've got more. It's been like 10 years. CrunchWrapSupreme
If students are to return to classroom teaching on July 1st, as has been heard, then the pubs must reopen by then for our hardworking farang teachers. Very true and people hate hearing the truth. One of the reasons that Asia hasn't been hit hard is there is less grossly overweight people apart from western foreigners. 3 1

IME young Issan girls working in bars in Pattaya always yearn to return to their village to see their families/children. However, after a week in the village they are bored to death and can't wait to get back to Pattaya. From the girls that I and my friends are currently in contact with, this certainly seems to be the case. Some have already returned, the rest will be returning within the next week or so. Like all ferangs on lockdown, they can't wait to get back to work.

Correct me if I am wrong, but several weeks ago the Government stated ALL cases of Covid would be treated free of charge, regardless of Nationality. That is probably why the idea of slapping 300 Baht on every airline ticket is raising its head to garner back funds?

Popular Post JonnyF
I think they'll open everything back up on June 1st. No point crashing the economy for such a small number of infections. It's pretty much gone from Thailand now. Popular Post thailand49
I'm not sure what we should all believe? The key to everything is social distancing, tracking and testing when it comes to Thailand there is no real testing the reason the numbers are low majority are poor and can't afford to go see even government hospital yet they are going to get tested plus majority of them are standing in line getting free food. From article written one day they say there are no new cases the next someone says there are cases. What I do know on the 17th what I saw in Pattaya was two different application in town they were trying to apply the rules the other side very little it was if the virus didn't exist local places packed any enforcement apply was inconsistent at best. If this is any indication as things open up with all this interaction and the rate doesn't go up open it all up and let the guys out get some butt and a good beer while doing it!????️ 2

BobbyL
Fingers crossed. I am guessing late June / early July with strict measures on the number of people allowed in and possibly like has been suggested to pubs in the UK, you must book in advance and are given a time limit. Fex Bluse
I hope not but I expect there will be many old farang with health issues (heart, weight, blood pressure) dropping dead from unexplained causes if they think it's safe to start visiting bars. Young healthy people are not at much risk. A 60+ year old who is obese and has a heart condition is at severe risk
