A homeless man has died of pneumonia just days after visiting a community pantry in U Thong District, Suphan Buri province, and leaving with just a single carton of milk.

Dr Somphit Champa-ngeon, director of Uthong Hospital, said on Tuesday (May 19) that the unnamed man was suffering with a high fever when officials brought him to the hospital on May 14. He tested negative for Covid-19 but succumbed to pneumonia at 11.40am on May 17.

“The hospital has reported the circumstances of his death to U Thong Police Station,” she said. “The hospital will keep the man’s body for 15 days and cooperate with Social Development and Human Security and Homeless Centre in Suphan Buri in seeking his relatives.”

Meanwhile, Busaya Monklum, of the local Social Development and Human Security office, said she will ask Suphanburi Governor Nimit Wanchaithanawong to find a solution to the plight of the homeless during the pandemic.

The poor and homeless are always impacted harder by any crisis. They have less access to services, are less community connected and almost always living with several physical and mental health issues.

High fever and phnemonia????? But it wasn't covid?

I saw some figures referenced by one of our TV contributors the other day which referenced the Ministry of Public Health register of causes of death. It showed that during a period of a few days when Covid-19 deaths were recorded in single digits, about 700 people had died of pneumonia! It seems that Thailand has a pneumonia epidemic!

Being homeless has to be one of the worst fates, that can befall a human being. In the US there are some (not many) services available for homeless people, through shelters or missions. Here? I am not sure. But, my guess is not alot. The Thai people can be kind hearted, but when it comes to looking after the downtrodden, there is a limited amount of charity out there, and virtually none from the hapless administration.

Just more proof of testing failure and lies. Of course it was Covid related.

Not necessarily. Thailand is one of the worst countries in the world for TB, which is yet another viral infection.
