webfact
Video: Pensioners in custody after minor argument leads to death of security guard in Bangkok Image: Sanook A pointless argument led to the death of a thirty seven year old security guard in Samut Prakan yesterday morning. A couple aged 70 and 73 who are motorcycle taxi riders are in police custody charged with murder. Sanook reported that Bang Kaew police attended the scene where Saphaporn was lying in a pool of blood with a single chest wound. He was dead. Giving evidence was 70 year old Phayao and her husband Than, 73. Phayao said her husband had called her after having a minor accident with a car as he wanted her to bring his registration papers. She parked her motorcycle in front of a busy parking lot angering the guard who attacked her. A melee ensued in which a nine month old baby was slapped, said the media. The guard would not stop. A helmet was used as a weapon and Phayao said she acted in self defence after she got a fruit paring knife from her bag. A video of the assaults caught on mobile phone were blurred and unclear. The guard died away from the scene of the initial confrontation. The lady who was involved in the original scrape said it all should have been sorted amicably, instead it blew up into a pointless argument in which a young man lost his life. realfunster
I wonder if that is the fatal stabbing at 34 seconds ? His back is turned and he is clearly walking away, it would seem to make the self-defence case a challenge. Looks like they have the whole thing on video, so should be an open & shut case. What a waste, one dead and probably two OAPs spending their final years in prison away from kids and grandkids.
ezzra
Bringing a knife to a helmet fight, no way will be a self defense case two against one the guard, pity that people in their 70's will have to end their life in prison...
Popular Post ThreeEyedRaven
It always surprises and saddens me how swift Thais are in turning a minor incident into one involving violence. The idea of discussing anything rationally just doesn't seem to happen.

Popular Post ThailandRyan
Never heard of a thai being called a pensioner before. Mama Noodle
That blurry image in the OP sure as sh*t looks to me like a motorbike taxi mob ganging up on a security guard trying to do his job. Not seeing much in the way of 'self defense' at all.

Canuck1966
I've watched the video several times and hard to see where the stab happens Also there was literally not a drop of blood in the whole video
Popular Post BritManToo
"Mr. Sathaporn, 37 years, was lying in a pool of blood on Thepparat Road. There was a stab wound in the left chest. The attacker was Phayao, 70 years old and Mr Tan, aged 73 years," If he'd showed the respect required by Thai culture for the elderly couple he'd be alive today. Early stages of the video, looked like the security guard doing the attacking, kicking and punching. At 35s the security guard appears to be wielding an iron bar. According to the story the security guard was only stabbed after repeatedly slapping a 9 month old toddler. If he'd been slapping my baby, I'd probably have stabbed him too. Considering that they allegedly murdered a man over nothing, I’d say it’s a good thing they are kept away from their grandkids. The link does not say that the child was "repeatedly" slapped. Slapping a child is inexcusable, I know (but likely accidental), but your claiming that the slapping was "repeated" when that was not what was reported is also inexcusable.
