snoop1130
Kalasin locals scolded for not wearing face masks, threatened with Bt20,000 fine By The Nation People in Kalasin province have been warned they face a fine of Bt20,000 if they fail to wear a face mask in public. The warning was issued by Governor Chaitawat Niemsiri and broadcast via the Kalasin Public Relations Office Facebook page on Thursday (May 21). The governor said that many people in the northeastern province were placing themselves at risk of catching Covid-19 because they were still not wearing masks outdoors. “To create awareness among people and prevent the spread of the disease, we issued an announcement to order everyone in the province to wear face masks,” he said. “People who violate this directive will face fines of up to Bt20,000.” Source: https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30388263 -- © Copyright The Nation Thailand 2020-05-21 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 2

They don't understand the reasoning for Mask use... [placing themselves at risk of catching Covid-19] should read 'placing others at risk of catching Covid-19'... With Thailand's case load is it really necessary for 66 million people in Thailand to wear face-masks? The population of Kalasin is 34,500people, there 3 confirmed Covid-19 cases, again, is a mask really necessary? When in close proximity to others on public transport yes, but when out and about more than 2m from others I don't believe so. This is when a little madness combined with sanctimony creeps in destroying the fabric of society as people start pointing the fingers at everyone else - the lack of common sense in the rules can sometimes be too divisive.

keithathome
Yes wearing a mask is to protect others from you; minimise YOUR (posible) toxic plume whenever you exhale. NO mask (unless you are talking germ warfare style self contained air supply and HEPA outgoing filter) is going to protect you from a virus
