The Ministry of Finance has disbursed payments to 15 million applicants for the government’s Bt5,000 cash handouts, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, secretary to the Finance Minister, said on Saturday (May 23).

He said disbursement under the government’s project to hand out remedies to people suffering from the Covid-19 outbreak is 99 per cent complete.

“We are reviewing the eligibility of 240,000 applicants, as our officials have not been able to contact them,” he said. “However, the ministry will send SMS to inform applicants to verify themselves at various branches of Krungthai Bank until May 29 this year.”

He added that Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana aimed to close this project by the end of May, adding that he was satisfied with the ministry’s performance.

“In addition, the Finance Minister had instructed officials to look after 1.7 million people who were unable to apply for cash handouts,” he added

“According to our survey, people are satisfied with the government’s operation, and have expressed their appreciation to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and the Finance Minister.”

Yet it is proposed that the state of emergency continues until at least the end of June, with many millions still not able to return to work, due to the continued lockdown in certain major industries !

I suppose those affected will have to "scramble" for food, to quote a certain clown ?

He looks awfully smug........ and proud of himself

Maybe that´s only the way he looks on picture. Some people find it hard to perform in front of a camera. If you are good at it, you should be happy.

And these 99% all stand/sit in huge crowds around the bank branches.

At least at Krungthai and BAAC (farmers bank).

Even doing a book update is a no-no currently.

Daughter receives some income as a rural health volunteer to her BAAC account.

She asked me whether I could do the book update.

No way, third time today I just drove on after seeing the crowds beleaguer the branch and machines.

Similar at Krungthai.
