Well mate, some Thais are the most caring people you could find anywhere.

Sadly there are many who are not caring, only want money.

My wife is the most caring person you could ever meet, her family the complete opposite.

One time wife unable to get home before 21.30, asked 1 of her sisters to prepare some food for me, bring it and water to me, she never came, ( now that happened when i was bedridden, unable to do anything myself).

Another occasion, my wife was away on school business, another of her sisters was asked to come, help me on my bed ( i am unable to sit in my chair more than 4 hours), she never came, my wife arrived home at 23.00, i had been stuck in my chair since 08.00.

I am not so sure you can look at it like the evil Thai family. It did not say he was hit or abused that way. He willingly went with his newer gal and it said he has a spinal injury. So they stuck him upstairs. I am sure they only cooked Thai food and his appetite probably only ate a little bit. The woman probably thought the money was open for grabs to rent and take care of her needs, a gift from heaven for her selfish needs. He probably could not fend for himself. He probably could not speak Thai. He couldn't walk so much or very far so things went down hill and her and the whomever of the family plainly got bored with him and left the old foreigner basically alone.. So good he will go back to England where he belongs and should never come back here again. He is lucky he is alive, and just maybe he wasn't a happy bowl of sunshine to be around all of the time. I would like more to this story.

My 80-year old father said he would move here and find a young wife when my mother dies! I was rather shocked and not sure if he was joking or not.

we had a lad who had his own routine were he used to  make his way into Pattaya most

days via several bars, he was an x boilermaker and had a decent pension.

i was in a bar one day and his wife got him by the throat, it was a bit of a shock and he later

told me his little secret that his wife had caught him out? i cannot repeat what i heard but lets

just say although i was surprised i was not at all bothered by his story.

a few months later his best mate turned up and told me he could not contact the x boilermaker?

the story was him and his wife had moved to her village.

a few months on and the next story was he now never answered his phone, but his thai wife did and 

made an excuse time after time but never put him on. and although i did see his mate he said the

last time he spoke to the boilermakers wife, and lied to her that he owed her husband some money

and that he wanted to pay him back but she just hung up.

i have never seen or heard anything of the three since that day,,,,and i know at least three others who disappeared in similar situations.  just didn't realize i was so boring.....

The guy hardly looks starved. And why the caring British family with all the loving words did not know about this or help him if he needed help in all those years? And the lot of them can't come up with the money for a plane ticket between them?

Well, if your father is in good health and still active, why not?

But I agree that it can come as a shock if he already says this when your mother is still alive.

My stepfather turned 78, looks 60 and is presently training to do the Camino (the pilgrim's walk to Santiago de Compostella) next summer from his Belgium home, almost 1850 km.

My mother deceased 3 years ago, and he is now mentioning that when he meets the right partner he will go for it.  And I wish it to him, as he deserves all the happiness he can get.

Same goes for your father > Also, the pictures of Thailand and the beautiful thai ladies, as well as the stories he heard from you living here, must have had its effect.  I wish your father all the best!

What about my story? Quite a lot of people put them selves out and helped me, probably cost them money, but did they think about that no, just like Hotandsticky he was 1 of the first to step up and help me, and yes i was/ am extremely grateful for his and others help.

So no point in me expecting any help from you.????

There is nothing to indicate he was kidnapped and locked up. There is nothing to indicate he was incapacitated. So, after just a month or two, with full possession of his ATM card, and his bank accounts, why did he not simply leave? Why continue to subject yourself to a miserable woman, and a miserable family? He had some pension money. Was that not in the form of monthly income? Or was it savings, that was depleted? Am I missing something here?

Happens a lot. There was the ex policeman who was being poisoned and luckily found by a travelling foreign monk, that made the UK press a few years back. 

 

My good friend took his wife to court and won. He was awarded half the estate, 7 million baht. He was killed in a hotel room shortly after. Police never investigated.

This guy can't afford to live in Thailand and lacks survivor skills. In Britain he'll probably be sent to an old folks home of some sort. If he has family, do you think they will welcome him back and care for him?

Even if it turns out that it was a Porkie Story, the lack of empathy and trust in your fellow men showing in your posts is stunning and more than sad.  I'd rather be taken for a ride every time, than going through life with such attitude.
