Urologist Recommendation

Looking for urologist recommendations, preferably in Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom or Salaya. If no good options, Bangkok is an option (saw the pinned topic, thanks), but rather not.

 

Unless much mistaken it's a urinary bladder stone. These and the kidney version run in the family, guess I'm due. Started feeling the occasional pain (luckily not side or back, but literary the the end of the pipe) some weeks ago. Denial or ignoring it (my usual methods for dealing with health issues) seem to have failed. Last three weeks got worse, as in more frequent episodes (ie every few days, rather than weeks). Pain isn't all that bad, but still...and I know it would probably get worse if  untreated. And yes, not drinking enough water, and was both too much in the sun and doing more physical stuff than usual these last 2-3 weeks, so no mystery.

 

I just hope they're not into the invasive stuff in this country, my old man had a procedure scheduled when the Corona thing arrived. He's much more worried about the former. Now I truly get him.

I've got the same as you. 

I went to my local clinic about 6 months ago, had an ultra scan. 

Showed density in my gaul bladder. 

Was given medicine to break up kidney stones (pills) and told to cut out tea, coffee, fruit juice and alcohol, but drink plenty of water. 

Also my urine sample come back as calcium. 

I had peed blood that morning a few times, but it had subsided by the time I got to the clinic. 

I went back a week later, after meds had finished, and my next pee test was no calcium, all good. 

2 days ago, after running on the treadmill, I peed blood again, the day before, when peeing, it stung a bit. 

The procedure that you talk of, I've had it years ago for a different issue, and I can tell you, its extremely uncomfortable, and the most unnatural thing I've ever had to do, but if it benefits your health, then don't think twice about having to go through it, because it's all over when you get up off the bed and was expecting a lot of pain after, but I worried for nothing.

Ultrasound is painless and completely non invasive - in my case found suspect cancer in bladder so very much worth having (mine was a bleeding issue - not pain).

 

Cystoscopy can be almost painless if properly done but agree can be a bit of a pain (or more) if not.  So for that best to have a good doctor with experience.  But as said any pain is over when procedure is finished.

Thanks for both comments. As said, this sort of runs in the family, so I'm somewhat familiar with both the symptoms and treatment. Seems like actually carving up is mostly a thing of the past (or saved for severe cases), so will hope for ultrasound but put up with whatever, uncomfortable as it is. 

 

So far no bleeding whatsoever, alcohol consumption been down for a while now, but diet...yeah, maybe some unhappy changes there.

Could also be an infection.

 

You can try the Jubilee Medical Center in Salaya or Nakhon Pathom government hospital (main hospital in the town, it is a regional level facility).

 

No guarantee either had a urologist, if they do nto then need to come to Bangkopk

Yes, could be Prostatitis infection.

There are two hospitals (in Nakhon Pathom, and Ratchaburi) which for a few years now are supposedly part of the Bangkok Hospital chain (at least, they carry the logo). I'm not sure if this implies better or even good treatment, or whether the change applies more to their billing departments. Seems like those locals who can afford it favor the Nakhon Pathom one.

 

FIL just went through some urological episode (subsided, but unresolved - he's in his 90's and doctors are reluctant to operate) which was treated in the amphur hospital. I'm still trying to figure out exactly who diagnosed and treated him. The usual deal is that the hospital gets visiting specialists (mostly Bangkok based, I think) for 1-2 days a week. Probably the same.

You just keep your eyes on the video screen and follow it in.  Really quite good video.

Believe a bit of numbing gel is all that normally is required - if on good terms with doctor.

They put me under in Australia. Having had the numbing gel, I can assure you it does not numb.

I have had had done 3 times and for two there was no real pain but full bladder feeling for one.  The 3rd was a pre-op check done at a government hospital (which ended up not doing operation) and was extremely painful (perhaps because inexperience of member doing).

Definitely means much higher cost. Does not mean better quality. But will be more convenient (quicker appointment, no wait, more comfortable facilitied) if they have a urologist.
