There must be a balance between economy and virus control. If the people are suffering and the number of virus cases is so low that it is negligible, then the decision is laughable.

 

I still see long queues of people getting their free food and many unemployed people.

 

The government don't seem to acknowledge this fact.

Can't help but think people in this part of Asia have some built in Immunity or perhaps a herb boosting their immune systems?

As much as I hate to say it but the government did well in shutting Thailand down.

The worrying bit - we are about to open up again. There is still a lot of the virus out there in the world.

The tricky bits are open borders and end of free visas.

The financial devastation is a bigger issue.  The virus until there is a vaccine will never go away... just be dormant.  But Thailand deserves no pats on the back.

Can I use Australia as one example. They closed flights into country one week prior to Thailand.  They had "rules" far more strict than Thailand. They have testing FAR greater than Thailand. They (some states) still not allow entry from other states of Oz. 

Numbers wise Thailand has come out better than Oz. How? Don't put it down to good management.

Covid 19 looks like a cold, pneumonia, it can easily be misrepresented as another disease. Very easily. Not intentionally, just out of ignorance. Because no testing was done.

 

The same with hospital staff. How would hospital staff know someone died of Covid19 if no testing was done? They wouldn't know.

 

A study by the WHO showed that routinely 70% of doctor's completed death certificates in Thailand were faulty and flawed in some way, usually cause of death.

 

Basically Thailand has done nothing sensible, and got away with it because only 0.8% of people actually have the virus, as the Iceland study showed.

 

 

Exactly don't diagnose it as the Wuhan Virus but heart disease, TB or anything else. Most Thais are very deferential with doctors and would never question what the doctor states. While it's true there are not bodies piled up, the true death and infection count are probably multiples of what is officially reported. 

This was a concerted effort from the beginning to paint a picture of Thailand as not impacted by the virus and TAT's latest promotion of Amazing Trusted Thailand just confirms that. But this is not a contest, let them have their Pyrrhic Victory and let's get the country open again so people can get their lives back (and I'm talking about all the unemployed Thais, not the fat drunks missing their barstool in Pattaya).

We'll all be scientific world leaders....lol.

I think nobody died of Covid 10 as it is called Covid-19 , but ok i get where your going . Nearby countries like Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam have done far better than Thailand and did not introduce such harsh measures! This government wants people to live like criminals. Being tracked, having to sit across from your wife (who you are intimate with) in a food court with plexiglass between you?? Rediculous! I went to the Bank and was told my 8 yo daughter had to sit seperate from me and because there were less seats she had to sit a row away from me. I had to keep my eyes on her all the time. Rediculous! Closing saunas that kill viruses and bacteria and are needed for my own health as I have COPD, Chronic Bronchitis and Asthma. Rediculous! Closing beaches where you have natural bacteria and virus killers like salt water and sand, not to mention the necessary Vitamin D from the Sun we all need. Rediculous! Maintaining a curfew 11 to 4 for what? Control! Rediculous! Being tracked wherever you go by their tracking app and not being allowed access without it when there are no new cases in the country? Rediculous and NAZI like controls. What they are doing with flights is a joke as everyone re-breathes the same air and the filters or masks do not kill or protect from viruses. It is an additional piece of excrement we have to put up with like no water on board scanners and little bags for your liquids and only max 100ml. You wont be able to sit with your wife or child on a plane but we will still see packed busses and trains. Rediculous.

asians  wear masks and after some initial waffling,  remember that, masks were suggested and the country seemed to have masks unlike USA.   no hand shaking. high pepper consumption.   I dont believe more sunbathers than Oz or Vit D BS.  perhaps this wasn't the first time a virus like this was in Thailand.  Some sort of immunity?

I think it was just lucky that the sick chinese cancelled their trips. or didnt plan to come.  I wonder how many last-minute cancellations in the flights there were from China?  I think it's a little early to be bragging about any one country,  this is far from over.

My partner cited 2 deaths and cremation in the last few days related to covid19 in or around Nangrong Buriram. 

Neither is being indicated in official figures.

I'm sure there's many more.

Let look at it logically.   The heat here in Thailand Feb to May has been,  is,  way to hot for the virus to survive.  Yesterday here it was 45 out in the sun,  38 under the house.  The human body temp is 37.2 so until we go to bed in the air conditioned comfort of the love shack we are not in the correct temp range.   What little the government has done doesn't have a great bearing on it.  ????
