geovalin
The Thai embassy, in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross of Cambodia, yesterday donated large quantities of sanitation supplies to the Directorate General of Prisons in a bid to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus among inmates. Thai Ambassador Panyarak Poolthup handed over the donations to DGP director general Chan Kimseng. Roman Paramonov, head of the ICRC’s mission in Cambodia, said at the event the Thai embassy handed over around 640 kilogrammes of soap, 520 litres of liquid cleaners and 44 kilogrammes of detergent to prevent virus transmission behind bars. “The purpose of the handover was to show support and join hands with the DGP in the prevention of the epidemic of COVID-19,” he said. Mr Paramonov said since February, the ICRC has been actively partnering with the department in COVID-19 prevention efforts. He said the organisation provides technical support and advice to the prison management, assists in producing guidelines, training and capacity building which would benefit more than 38,000 detainees and 4,000 prison staff nationwide. read more https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50727197/thai-embassy-helps-prisons-prevent-coronavirus-spread/
