Popular Post JohnBarleycorn
You know, I often feel that some of the many-splendored Farang in Thailand do not give enough thanks for being rescued by this wonderful culture. Do you think that I am joking? I am NOT joking. In my opinion, there is just too much misunderstanding and underestimating regarding the multiplicity of meaningful benefits that can be gained by coming to Thailand. I did not come to Thailand for the typical reasons; I came because I felt the need to come, even though I did not recognize this need before I arrived. In some respects, my coming to Thailand was foisted upon me. I believe that Thailand is the best country in the world. Maybe you might think that I don’t know what I am talking about. But I do. Who would know more than I about this? Lou Reed? Or, the Sugar Plum Fairy? There is no question to be answered in this post. Only an acknowledgment of the beauty of the culture that we all enjoy in Thailand. And maybe we do not give enough thanks for what we have been granted. Have you ever wondered why you had been sort of floating around Asia for most of your life, only to suddenly find a home in Thailand? 3 8

Popular Post Ventenio
Thailand was the BEST the day before every OTHER farang got here. I was here first!!!! I saw the best!!! after my experience, it only got worse. no, i didn't get older and cynical. i remember when nobody saw a white person, i was the first. then i met everyone, so my experience was the best. they smiled at me for real, not you. my gf was great, not yours. blah, blah...i don't want to hear your stories, unless you want to hear MUCH better stories from me. 3

Popular Post ThailandRyan
First arrived in Thailand overweight and out of shape. After working a few months, I took a trip to see a friend in Phuket, got involved in a fitness regime, trained in Muay Thai, took up MMA again, and took some fights. Over that year I lost over 80 lbs, and returned to the shape I was in when I has exited the Police Academy. Over the years of going back and forth to the US for work I stayed with the routine and Thailand was always in my mindset. The beaches, the slow paced life and wonderful food. After many years of back and forth I moved here full time upon retiring and have continued with keeping healthy. The goal is to enjoy my retirement and not end up wallowing in self pity like so many in the US do upon retiring, as they have no goals, hobbies, or drive anymore except to sit on the couch, drink and watch Jerry Springer or Ellen Degenerate.... 3

Popular Post pgrahmm
I actually did this backwards....I was involved with the Thai community & living with Thai gals in the US..... One invited me to visit TH for a few months with her at her 8 rai place - smack dab in the middle of 3 villages....I fell in love with the place & people - just me & another farang for miles.... Broke up with the Thai/US gal and came back to CM two times solo before deciding to come here permanently...... I'm probably one of the few who hasn't sampled/played in Patts or Nanaville along the way..... Still here (but admittedly it seems to have a magnetic allure) - still trading smiles....
