webfact Posted May 27, 2020 Share Posted May 27, 2020 Two killed as storms rip through upper Thailand By The Nation Storms killed at least two people and left a trail of destruction across 12 provinces in upper Thailand on Wednesday (May 27). Strong winds and heavy rain damaged property in Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Amnat Charoen, Surin, Sisaket, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Chai Nat and Saraburi, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, which is organising relief efforts. A total of 383 houses were damaged across the country. Soldiers have been sent to evaluate the situation and help victims. The storms were the result of strong gales in the Andaman sea and low pressure over the Northeast, said Monthon Sudprasert, the department’s director general, The Finance Ministry is preparing funds to cover compensation for the families of those killed and also the reconstruction of property.
