snoop1130
Research shows 86% of parents worried about their kids returning to school File photo About 86% of parents are concerned about their children going back to school during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they want assurances that the schools will have taken steps to prevent the spread of the disease among the students before they reopen on July 1st, according to Kasikorn Research Centre’s opinion survey. Between April 1st and May 10th, the Kasikorn Research Centre conducted a random survey of 480 parents, whose children are studying at kindergarten to upper secondary levels. The survey shows that 86% of the parents want the schools to make sanitizer gel available for pupils, regularly disinfect classrooms and the school compound, reduce congestion in classrooms, ensure social distancing and reduce sports activities which might expose students to physical contact. The parents are supportive of the distance and online learning options introduced by many schools, to help students prepare for the reopening of schools, according to the survey. Kasikorn Research Centre reported that education-related spending by parents in Bangkok and its suburbs, before school reopening, is forecast to increase by 0.1% to more than 28 billion baht this year, although many parents are affected by widespread business closures due to the pandemic. The survey also shows 88.9% of the parents are concerned that they may not have enough money for the tuition fees due to reduced incomes and their limited savings. Life won't magically start up again as soon as businesses do. It will be a real struggle for many for a while.
DrTuner
The international school my kids are in is opening up next week. I'm not really worried right now as the country has been hammered with lockdowns and entry restrictions, but the first semester in September might be hairy after they've opened the borders. Matzzon
I am pretty sure they got this all wrong. I wonder if they specifically asked the questions based on the virus situation? If not I will assume the answers are based on that the parents are scared to death that their children once again stand in front of the fact that they everyday will have their brain raped by the education system. Krataiboy
Parents should not be too concerned, as the vast majority of children who become infected are likely to suffer only mild symptoms or none at all on the way to kicking the virus and becoming immune. The problem is youngsters who live in multi-generational households. There is no evidence that children under ten can transmit the disease to elderly relatives, but in the case of older children the jury is still out. Has Thailand actually managed to squeeze the virus out of its system - or is it still lurking and ready to strike with a second, even worse, wave? We probably won't find out until a couple of weeks or more after classrooms reopen.

Yes, it's a problem that information like this is not being reported. The news outlets would rather keep the people scared.

They should be more worried about the Safety of their kids and how to improve on that. Kids to young on MC , No helmets ,no license ,no insurance,No brains and no idea how to ride on MC don't know the road rules. To top this of the parents are the Idiots letting their kids out on the road and the government doesn't give a Hoot. And they are worried about the kids catching the Wuhan Flu at school ?
