I tend to focus on the body. No-one looks at the mantelpiece when they are stoking the fire.

yes, but the mantelpiece is where you park your beer while you are poking. It needs to be functional and mildly attractive.

I can remember one I barfined years ago, best described as pleasantly ugly. One of the most superb bodies I have ever seen on a woman, and she knew how to use it to boot. Late twenties.

Functionality facewise is not important to me, I am not into BJ's. Each to his own.

"A lot of ladies here working in nightlife are mostly from a poor family or upcountry," she said. "They have no chance to go work in a company."

That old excuse, Wife  came to Bangkok when 15 and started work in a  factory, lying on your back is so much the lazy option.

Always stuns me how people can be afraid of Covid in the red light centers.

So much more to worry about.

Pity a few never worried about AIDs

Getting back to normal will be a great thing, but I can't help but think that there will be a lot of very desperate people out there who haven't been able to earn anything like a decent wage for months now. So I would suggest people who go out to enjoy Thailand's nightlife might need to take a bit of extra care both when out and about, and when entertaining your new friend back at your hotel. A wallet with several thousand baht in it, that MacBook Pro or an expensive watch might be extremely tempting to someone in massive amounts of debt.

Very good point... probably a good idea to have the friends check their IDs with hotel security/ front desk.

But in general, it is good policy to lock your wallet, laptop and watch in the safe, if you are meeting the girl for the first time (or on your last day in LOS as you don't have time to deal with any trouble)

Because it's true.

You've obviously never worked in a Isarn drug and alcohol recovery centre.

You must live in that world of denial, which so many sex addicts do.

How on Earth can a young girl enjoy having sex with a 60-year old Gunther, Lars, Bert, Abdul, Hiro, Bruce,

or Chip?

Suppose you would not know unless you are a not so young girl...

Nonetheless, Patpong's nightlife district employed thousands of people, mostly young women. Most are now among the 2 million Thais the state planning agency believes may be made unemployed this year because of the impact of the virus.

Thai sex industry on it's knees... who'd have thought !!

pun intended.

I grew up in Thailand going to Patpong.

I find it very interesting that in translating thousands of stories about Thailand for Thaivisa over the last four and a half years I don't think I have once written one about Patpong, either trouble there or otherwise. We have few stories from Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy too.

The Thai media seems to be obsessed with Pattaya though.

The first time I came to Thailand was in 1990 for six weeks as part of my world backpacking tour. It became a stay here for almost a year, the rest of the world tour went out of the window.

I remember Patpong too, the GoGo bars seemed more relaxed then. Not so much hassle, but also more risqué.

My involvement at that time was writing letters for bar girls to their boyfriends, pledging their undying love and requesting money. That was well before the internet or mobile phones here. My payment - one beer per letter.

i disagree i never come across any other dangers being a monger in Thailand and never had any STD in the 20 years i was playing the field just a bit of red eye occasionally, its more dangerous getting about Sydney's King Cross than anywhere in Thailand, now you dont have to anything and you could die this CV is the worst thing thats ever happened in the world well in my time

I rarely wrote such letters though I did teach English briefly in a bar in Nana Plaza and for a considerable time to staff at the Nana Hotel.

The lockdown has meant the whole sex industry has collapsed. Online escort service Smooci said activity in Bangkok fell to 10 percent in April

Let me explain something, Jiraporn and Matthew, sex for sale has survived earthquakes, tsunamis, plagues, world wars and it will survive this miserable virus.

One owner of a go-go bar has not renewed his lease? Oh no it's the end of Thailand as we know it, lol.

What a nonsense.

We can only hope it's true. Thailand needs to grow up if it wants to survive and drop the seedy image. If they are not going to embrace the sex trade and drive it then just get rid of it, clean the place up and plan for better quality tourists. it will take years to shake the image but this seems like a great opportunity to start reinventing itself. i know there will be plenty of posters attacking this view but get used to the fact that times are changing for Thailand. All in all I think it could be good news...If you are going to respond with nonsense about how heroic you are feeding the poor families up north by paying for these services don't bother, I have heard it all before.

isnt it a know fact that 10% of prostitution applies to services for foreigners all the rest is for Thais i sure i read that somewhere
