Last year, they had 260 bill to spend!  No way are things going back to normal this year imo.

Nobody is suggesting that will happen. All that is being said is that some of the money spent last year (THB 260 bill.) by native Thai people  on overseas travel will this year be spent on domestic holidays and that will partially offset the loss caused by having no foreign tourists.

Probably the leading contender for Thai Visa totally pathetic pointless article of the year award.!

Borders closed therefore no tourists .............no [email protected] Sherlock!

if clicks are needed for advertising revenue run a thread about the Thai Uni girls shockingly tight and short uniforms again ... include a few examples and watch the stampede ...........

No, it's just 315 baht.....forget the 8 Pounds, that means nothing whatsoever here, except to you.

A plate of pad thai in a food court is 40 baht, that's just 40 baht, not one Pound.

April 2020 tourist arrivals are down by a staggering 99.92% Y-o-Y, but who are the 0.08%?

97,723 people arrived in Thailand in April, 63,426 Thais and 34,297 foreigners. 31,496 of the foreign arrivals are aircrews. They outnumber tourist by 1:11. Strange times we live in.

Of the foreigners only 2,758 were tourist, as below:

Malaysian = 2,412

Lao = 188

Chinese = 55

Indonesian = 31

Vietnam = 20

Philippines = 17

Japanese = 10

Cambodian = 8

Indian = 4

TAT over to you.

It's not just tourism - it's the manufacturing sector, et all.  Thailand is getting hammered from all ends, but the worst is tourism, which is 11 percent but experts have said it's 15 percent GDP not including 5 percent GDP spinoff.

They are really trying to spin this story and get people not too worried.  There will be no tourism this year.

January through March, there was tourism.  July through December there will be tourism.  Your statement about "no tourism this year" is false.  Economic fearmongers abound on this thread, don't feel bad, believe it or not the world survives with or without our "predictions"

I'd struggle to believe these numbers are much different to most other countries,

So as I've said before, you are going to need a serious rebound in domestic air travel before anyone is going to spend hours and hours on a plane to BKK.

Also for a lot of folks with this whole lockdown thing, have really been hurt financially, including the much vaunted Chinese tourists, who I'd wager haven't received a fraction of the financial support most Western countries have doled out.

So it's gonna take a while until things rebound, and I sincerely doubt it's in 2020

Got to admit I am as well.

Even if I'm in the 'bracket' for it bumping me off it all seems to be getting a bit much.

 Try to keep the infection rate down by social distancing in eg restaurants, some counties 1 metre others 2 metres. Does the server throw the food onto the table from the required distance etc. 😆 If you skip on the bill can they chase you but stay 2 metres away shouting stop thief.

This bug is never going to go away so how long is the 'long-haul' to keep your distance?

For me the whole total panic thing started when it kicked off in China and they, hospitals, had no idea what they were dealing with and how to deal with it. They just let people cram into the hospitals in their hundreds/thousands just like big incubators. OK, the last goes against my arguement for relaxing social distancing I know but the lockdowns were/are a bit heavy..

Should we just 19 run its course? Should we take the finger off the panic button?

Is there more to this virus that is still being kept quiet?

Just my disconnectd jottings and confusion over the whole thing.
