Popular Post rooster59
Movie theaters set to open: But "New Normal" means no drinks or popcorn Image: Sanook A trip to watch the movies in Thailand will be a very different experience compared to two months ago. A public health official has said there will be no drinks and popcorn allowed. You would have to remove your mask to do that and thus it is far too risky, said Dr Phanphimon Wipulakorn. She said that air conditioning systems would be checked as people need to be in one place for two to three hours to watch a movie. Couples will be allowed to sit together but there will need to be a three seat space to the next people. At first stories circulated that movie theaters would not be allowed to re-open with officials saying that there were no new movies on offer so why bother. But Sanook published a story that featured the five measures planned by Major Cineplex Group who are ready to open their doors on June 1st. These include the now familiar screening measures of temperature checks, mask wearing and hand sanitizing. When buying tickets social distancing will take place. Staff will be behind screens and inside the theater seats and rows will be unoccupied and there will be more screens between people. Cashless purchasing measures will be encouraged, cleaning will be top notch and tracking before and after will be the norm. Apichart Khonchai representing the group said they hope to open on Monday. He stressed that since the two month closure the group had been regularly cleaning their facilities and the measures will be stepped up when they open. The body of the Sanook story that referred to the group suggested that drinks and popcorn could be purchased but that seems to have been scuppered by the comments of Dr Phanphimon. bodga
Waste of time, so 3 seats apart left to right and front to back, wouldn't worry about mask removal they can't keep their hands off them anyway. Wife went out in On Nut last night and said the restaurant had no social distancing, people taking selfies 5-6 together.

Popular Post Matzzon
They are talking so much everywhere! Yesterday, I went to a grocery shop. They wanted me to sign in and they checked my temperature. After that I could not enter without face mask and needed to sanitize my hands first. Sure, no problem! Everything ok. The funny thing, though. That is that everybody sign in with the same pen, before they clean their hands. So, ok. I saw that, but I just let it go without any comment. I smiled and went in. When I walk around in the shop after all this I have to do and wear for being allowed to do my shopping. Yeah, what do I see. I see almost half of the staff and the cashiers walking around or serving customers, wearing their face masks like fashion accessories under their chin. Yep, that´s when I blow a fuse and really told them what kind of crazy behaviour that was. What happened? Yeah, they first thought that I was looking to buy face masks. After that they understood what I meant and just smiled and put up their face masks. Ops! Little stupid me, actually though that I managed to make some people understand. But, oooh no!!!! When I turned around and came to the sign out desk I looked back over my shoulder. Then they had all taken down their masks under their chin again. From now on I will always refuse to sign in and sign out, as long as they can not guarantee that the staff in the shop I enter all will play by the rules. I will wear a mask and let them check my temperature, though. Edited May 30, 2020 by Matzzon 2

Popular Post Keyser Soze666
I'm sick of all this nonsense, utterly pathetic. Cinemas here are always empty anyway, will now be lucky to get one man and his dog to sit in the pitch black for 2 hours. 6

Brunolem
In short, after destroying large parts of their economy, they want to destroy their movie industry (Hollywood will probably wait for the madness to subside before sending its movies over here). Who will want to sit, wearing a face mask for 3 hours nonstop, with staff checking in the alleys? Not me for sure!
Popular Post bendejo
Don't know if it works the same way out here, but in the US the theatres make maybe half their money from refreshments. One third of attendance plus no popcorn sounds like operating at a loss.

They are screwed.
phantomfiddler
Where is the logic ? Cinemas, which are all enclosed, are allowed to open, yet small beerbar/restaurants cannot ???

scubascuba3
Cinemas often rely on snack and drink sales to make a profit, so this decision probably means some cinemas will stay shut and maybe never open again

In USA in certain states you can stand on the beach but not lay on the beach. Others you can be on the beach but only if the sand is wet, you can't stand on dry sand. In numerous states, buying marijuana was considered an essential service so they were never closed. My favorite in Thailand is you can go to a restaurant but you can't get an alcoholic drink. I guess if I ordered a soft drink or iced tea those kill the virus but alcohol spreads it.

Which means that they don't if there is no alcohol in sight. Who knew that people were so much addicted to alcohol that they were talking to each other only when under influence... Unofficially they know what the death toll on the roads is gong to be once they allow alcohol sales. I will be honest going out to dinner is not a great experience when you have to use line to talk to your date. As to the theatres someone above missed the fact that couples can sit together so I imagine if you went with the family it would be the same. Personally while it is a pain in the assets I prefer the slow roll out versus them opening everything at once and having an issue. The bars will have to be opened by the 1st of July so maybe the first is gong to be INDEPENDENCE DAY LOL
