A senior police officer was killed and three women injured when two cars collided on Friday afternoon in Suphan Buri province.

The accident involving a Honda City and a Nissan Note happened on Onrai-Banteung Road in Suphanburi’s Samchuk district.

The driver of the Honda City was identified as Pol Senior Sergeant-Major Sombat Phosuwan, 47, who sustained severe injuries, while the driver and passengers of Nissan comprised three females who sustained minor injuries. They were rushed to Samchuk Hospital but Sombat succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Sombat, who served as crime suppression unit commander at Krasiew Police Station in Samchuk district, had gone home to have lunch and was driving back to work when his car and the Nissan Note, which was travelling on the opposite lane on Onrai-Banteung Road, collided.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.

Pol Senior Sergeant-Major

with sadness, however when one read senior Police, one envision a high raking police officer, or maybe they meant senior in service years in the police...

Didn’t die at scene so won’t count in the statistics?

Not possible if driving on Opposite lane. One or the Other must have crossed the Centre line . As a matter of fact they Both could have Hogged the road by driving over the centre line Yes?

See it every day Centre line in the centre of the vehicle. and Don't want to move over for oncoming traffic.  😣

Hazard a guess I'd say an impact, which on what looks like a very long straight road is easily achieved.

I agree, senior to me means high ranking. Anyone above police colonel, for instance.

The circumstances seem suspicious and at least one of the vehicles was in the wrong place.

At least the ubiquitous lamp post didn't play a part this time.
