Spybot System Scan - how safe ?

I used SpyBot many years ago and it was a great program.

It's a good idea to close all programs before deleting temp files. Because some programs rely on those temp files and won't like it if they are deleted while "in use".

I write "in use" like that because if the file is open by the application then it's unlikely SoyBot would even try to delete it. But it the file was created by an app and is currently not in use then SpyBot, and other programs, might delete it.

Summary: Use that function in SpyBot only with no other active program.

I have not used Spybot for years, just use CCleaner, which

I know is safe, I believe Temp files are removed by Windows

after a while.automatically.

Spybot is showing 8,000 temp files so Windows is not clearing them.
Is CCleaner easier to use

Yes,download it , I use the slim version, click on the custom clean, 2nd box down,

then tick everything you want it to clean, don't do anything in the Advanced area.

What windows version are you using, Win 7 or 10 ? if you have 10 you can go to SETTINGS, STORAGE, and delete

from there.

Many thanks for that Worgeordie, I use Win 7 from choice.
Will download CCleaner and give it a go.
I note your point about the Advanced area.
