Bangkok: Former security guard dressed in lycra to steal expensive bicycles in Pattanakan area

Klong Tan police in Bangkok announced the arrest of a former condo security guard for a spate of thefts of expensive bicycles. 

 

The thief disguised himself in the garb of a bicyclist to commit at least 28 thefts. 

 

Met region 5 chief Pol Maj-Gen Samart Srisiriwiboonchai said that the bikes were fenced to sellers in the Ramkhamhaeng area. 

 

The suspect targeted expensive bikes that were poorly secured using his prior knowledge of the workings of condos. He disabled GPS systems and rode off like he was a pro in lycra.

 

But he was not that smart - some of the bikes were worth 180,000 baht each yet he sold them for only 2,000 to 3,000 baht. 

 

He had a previous record of stealing from his employer for which he was jailed for one year and four months in 2017 and released in 2018. 

 

Only eight victims have so far come forward and Klong Tan police are appealing for others to contact them.

 

The thefts occurred in many condos in the Pattanakan area of the Thai capital.
