Somkid calls mass PPRP resignation ‘unfortunate’, casts doubt on his future in Cabinet

Somkid Jatusripitak

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak was guarded about his political future on Tuesday (June 2), a day after the resignation of 18 Palang Pracharat (PPRP) executives triggered a reshuffle in the core coalition party that will see a new leader elected within 45 days.

“It is hard to say whether I will continue working for this Cabinet in the future,” said Somkid, who heads the government economics team that also includes former PPRP leader and Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana. Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan is now tipped to replace Uttama as leader of the PPRP after weeks of rumoured party infighting between factions.

Somkid also said that the mass resignation of party executives was an internal issue that the executives need to discuss.

“However, it is unfortunate, since they could have used their power to help this country” he said, adding that many citizens would face suffering from various issues in the future. The mass resignation came after Parliament approved three decrees worth about Bt1.9 trillion to tackle the impact of Covid-19.

He also told reporters that he did not know what the effect a reshuffle of party executives – most of whom are members of the government’s economic team – would have on the government.

He will be looking for a new job soon, getting too full of his own importance. Fatty is not organising a party coup.

Nothing has changed, the throughs have been emptied for the time being = it is walk-away-before-we-all-get-caught time again.
Reshuffle and new line up, refilling of through (and there is lots of refill standing around these days) or, if the manure hits the air disturbance unit, then there is dissolving of the shack and re-election.

This country is far, far away from anything like a democracy but pleased the Americans, the Europeans and the rest of the democracy-good-doers while China could not give a litte-mouse-backside for they do not have a word for democracy and honesty.

Thailand - quo vadis?

The watchman wanted full control over the 1.2 trillion budget.

Simple logic, most will become filthy rich off this budget.

Be on the look out for new watches!

I'm quite pleased to see this happening, I just need to buy more popcorn to be fully prepared.

Somkid is a smart man. He's done a lot of good work for this country. I'm reading that we may be entering semi-charted waters?
