Central Group has unveiled its plan to “Rebuild Thailand, Rebuild Economy” by creating jobs, generating income and cutting the cost of living. The department store operator said the plan features two main strategies.

The first is to strengthen local economies by offering rent-free retail space to farmers, SMEs, students and new jobbers at its shopping centres across the country. The second strategy is to support the “new normal” by cutting the cost of necessities by up to 90 per cent as well as encouraging a new shopping norm under Central’s hygiene and safety masterplan.

Central hopes the plan will help drive the Thai economy through the Covid-19 crisis and help support vulnerable members of society by providing over 270 shops to distribute their products for free.

Meanwhile the group will discount products by up to 90 per cent from today (June 2) to July 31 at every branch nationwide.

“Central Group led by Central Pattana [CPN] would like to underline our group synergy as well as join forces with partners to launch ‘Shopping from the heart – Thais help Thais’ to boost the economy in the second half of the year and to encourage mutual support among Thais.

We believe in the potential of Thai entrepreneurship, quality of manufacturing and high purchasing power. The economy will soon move forward as all these factors combine,” said Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, CPN’s executive vice president of marketing.
