webfact
Gulf Group distributes KN95 masks among South hospitals By The Nation In a move to help curb the Covid-19 contagion and support medics on the frontline, the Gulf Energy Development Public Co Ltd (GULF) recently distributed KN95 masks among hospitals in the South, including Songklanagarind, Hat Yai, Chana, Vachira Phuket and Yala hospitals. “Though the situation has improved with the easing of lockdown measures, the medical teams still need to keep their guard up as our experts are working hard on hunting for a cure. The KN95 masks are indeed useful, as they are a necessity. We thank Gulf Group for understanding the importance of people in the medical industry,” Assoc Prof Roengsak Leetanaporn, MD, vice dean for hospital affairs and director of Songklanagarind Hospital, said. “Despite the situation getting better, medical workers need to continue following strict guidelines and pandemic-monitoring measures. The medical team is still proactively visiting people in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Chana District Health Promotion Hospital, so they are at high risk. Therefore, I wish to express appreciation for Gulf Group’s act of kindness,” Kanokporn Ratchapattayakom, MD, from Chana Hospital said. Gulf Group has extended support to various sectors since the start of the outbreak, such as supporting the procurement of medical equipment for the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Rajavithi Hospital, Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, the Central Chest Institute of Thailand, the Police General Hospital and Buddhachinaraj Hospital; providing alcohol sanitising gel to small hospitals in Pattani and Yala provinces; providing 100,000 KN95 masks to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Phramongkutklao Hospital and Naval Medical Department; and donating cloth face masks to sub-district health screening teams in 10 provinces. The group has also been providing meals in poor urban communities across Bangkok and has partnered with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand to provide survival kits for people in Nonthaburi province. Gulf’s aid initiatives have also been extended to elephants who are suffering from the lack of food through donations to the Aob Chang project. Apparently this specifies it's produced in China. source: https://accumed.com/blog/kn95-mask-vs-n95-mask/
Stocky
N95 has a valve to let air out. Given the idea of wearing the mask is largely to prevent asymptomatic cases from spreading the virus, having a valve defeats the purpose.
