Thai researchers closer to finding Covid-19 vaccine

A researcher at the Chula Vaccine Development Centre shows a tube of vaccine prototype. This prototype is now being tested on macaques.

 

Hope is in sight for the region as Thai researchers make progress in the hunt for a vaccine against coronavirus, which has wreaked havoc across the world for several months now.

Jobs data shows an uptick in some sectors in May

New Roi-Et tower hits high note on Isaan skyline

Construction of the new landmark rising in the Northeast province of Roi Et province is more than 90 per cent complete. The Roi-Et 101 Tower will open to visitors before the end of 2020, giving them a bird’s-eye view of the provincial capital, said city mayor Banchong Kositchiranan.

Kasikorn Research Centre adjusts 2020 growth forecast down to -6%

Thailand’s GDP for the whole of 2020 is forecast to contract by as much as 6%, instead of 5% as previously projected, according to the Kasikorn Research Centre (KRC).

Businessman sentenced to four years for DUI fatal accident

The Supreme Court has upheld the 4-year prison sentence handed down by a lower court to a businessman who, under the influence of methamphetamines, rammed his Mercedes Benz into the rear of another car, causing it to catch fire and killing its 2 student occupants.

Child nursery operators appeal for permission to reopen

Operators of more than 80 privately owned children’s nurseries today lodged an appeal with the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration, through the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the PM’s Office, to allow them to reopen by June 15th.

Filipino teacher found dead in Nonthaburi

Pattaya massage shops reopen, but health rules restrict revenue

Gotta Kaewwong, owner of Gotta Thai Traditional Massage on Third Road, said he spent the break fixing up his shop, repainting and putting in processes to keep it clean as per Health Ministry guidelines.

 

Traditional Thai massage parlors put their best feet forward as they reopened for service under tight health restrictions. The government specified that massages could only be of the traditional variety.
