doe sit refer to naturally bald or also includes the "manually" bald (shaved head) 555

What the article seems to be saying is that men are twice as likely as women to die from coronavirus. This is because of the male hormone Androgen. It is this hormone, which causes hair loss in men.

So the answer to your question seems to be that men who are bald or who have male patterned baldness may be at risk.

Androgen is “the gateway for the virus to enter our cells” said Professor Wambier, who has led two studies in Spain. Both these studies found that a “disproportionate number of men with male-patterned baldness being admitted to hospital with the deadly disease.“

“Another study in Veneto, Italy, of 9,280 patients found men with prostrate cancer who were on androgen (i.e. male hormone) deprivation therapy were only a quarter more likely to become ill with Covid-19 than those on other treatments.”

aaaaa, the Daily Mail always trust them to come up with these obscure studies

Ahh, another newspaper snob. Welcome.

It is reported in the Daily Torygraph:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/bald-men-higher-risk-severe-case-covid-19-research-finds/

The problem is that you may not be allowed to read the full article, because it operates behind a paywall. At the very least you will have to sign up to receive a weekly email from them to read one or two free articles each week ... but they will be articles which they have chosen for you.

This is why it is easier to give a link to  Daily Mail, because its articles are open and free to all to read.

I put the blame on the self-styled research scientists who tabulate and publish these useless statistics in self-styled scientific journals.

As for the news media, I can't blame them for commenting on these pseudo-scientific reports for our amusement.

The same hormones that cause baldness are also implicated in underlying health conditions, such as heart disease and high blood pressure.  Essentially, of course, baldness is a male trait.  But it's not the baldness that is killing guys, or even the hormones, it's underlying health conditions in conjunction with the misfortune of suffering the most severe form of the disease.

Sounds like a right load.......Bald chaps will attract more vitamin D, which they now say is a biggy in staying safe..Now if bald blokes don't go out in the sun, then who knows.

What I have read is, coloured folk have a problem because their skin type is to protect from the sun, less vitamin D......????

Weeeell, I suppose tabloids must come up with something to fill the pages eh..????

It’s unusual for ThaiVisa celebrities (and former POTY winners) to post on threads I have started.

On February 24, not so long ago, TV posted a report quoting the Tourism Minister, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn

“We'll be back to normal within half a year," he said. "After Songkran the worst will be behind us" and also “The virus can't survive long in hot weather".

ThaiVisa readers very quickly posted 19 pages of comments: 90%++ didn’t believe him, and that he was talking moonshine.

One TV reader (fulviahf) went so far as to say: “As a member of government ... your lies will damage the people.” And way back then you seemed to agree with him about the Minister’s views on the health benefits of vitamin D???? (page 9)

I have to admit that I didn’t believe the Minister back then either, but like you, over the last few weeks and months, I have changed my mind about vitamin D too ????

Who knows, you may change your mind about what you read in tabloids as well.

DHT is the actually hormone that causes loss of hair in men, DHY causes inflammation in the hair folicale causeing the hair to fall out. DHT also causes the oristate gland to enlarge as well being 5 times stronger than testosterone it pushes out the testosterone at the receptor sights. You can use the same medication to treat baldness and prostate enlargement.

The UK government is saying that you can’t have sex with someone from another household:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8376263/Bring-CHAIRS-BBQs-no-sex-dont-live-partner-new-lockdown-rules.html

... which is a bit rich coming from a government headed by Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6145051/Ex-mistress-Petronella-Wyatt-reveals-rare-insight-Boris-Johnson.html

and as you know, he did catch coronavirus, although maybe not from too much sex.

You’re safest doing it as often as you want with the same partner. This Argentine couple who have a lot of enemies (even Maradona calls him a traitor)  in the football world, tweet each other as “Quindicina”: a reference to their doing it 15 times in 28 hours.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8375965/Mauro-Icardi-one-footballs-chaotic-men-change-better-PSG.html

but Harvard Uni would advise them to wear face masks each time they had  a romp; an opportunity perhaps to wear masks of your favourite animals

But this thread is about baldness and to return this post to that very important subject, here is a science magazine link on this:

https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/06/why-coronavirus-hits-men-harder-sex-hormones-offer-clues

Even The Sun newspaper has taken an interest:

“The leader of the major study at Brown University, Prof. Carlos Wambier, said: "We really think that baldness is a perfect predictor of severity."

‘If the link is confirmed then it could be a gamechanger for treating coronavirus patients and could drastically reduce the number of men dying from the disease.”

Bald men are already trying to cope with baldness let alone this now increased Corona risk, life isn't fair.

Isn't this just due to age though? older people are at greater risk of kicking the bucket with Corona

I hope that find this article of interest.

“The study does not adjust for age, which we know is the biggest single risk factor for serious covid-19 disease. However, it does compare the rate of baldness among severely ill patients (79 per cent) with the level of baldness in an “age-matched”, “similar Caucasian population”, which the researchers say is estimated at 31 to 53 per cent..”

We can expect to see the publication of a lot more statistical reports of dubious value, for example:

• 90% of persons tested positive are right-handed

• x% of persons tested positive are taller than 160 cm

• x% of persons tested positive have a tattoo

etc.

103% of those tested positive have corona virus

98% of those 103% were positively positive, the other 9% were not negative.

Researchers are continuing to explore the results.

The worst of the factors you have listed above is being overweight, although a lot more research is needed to help us understand why those from ethnic minorities are so vulnerable.

World-wide, plenty of women are overweight too. Being obese messes up your immune system, which includes your gut microbiome, and so makes It more likely that you will get illnesses and diseases like diabetes 2, many forms of cancer, heart disease, dementia and of course coronavirus.

But being positive about all this, there are various things that you can do which will make you less likely to catch coronavirus, even if you're bald or from an ethnic minority.

Wearing a face mask, washing your hands and getting plenty of vitamin D is a good start, but it’s vital to lose weight, nurture your microbiome, and get good quality sleep each night.

Professor Carlos Wambier, a dermatologist at Brown University, and whose research started the news articles about bald men and coronavirus, gives fuller information by way of answering a series of questions.

Futurity is a newsletter which provides information from University research.

As you can see from his photograph, Professor Wambier has a clear incentive to pursue his studies and research.

“In other words, the scientific evidence gives us reason to believe that beardy, bald men may be more vulnerable to COVID-19 than other individuals.”

”We currently know that men have more severe COVID-19 disease and a higher rate of fatality compared to women, and we also know that children under age 10 seem extremely resistant.”
