Officials from the Forestry Department, and police from the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division (NREC), will conduct another field inspection of 77 land plots in the Chom Boeng district of Ratchaburi province, claimed by the mother of former Future Forward party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit.

Mr. Chivaparb Chivatham, director of the Fire Prevention and Control Office of the Forestry Department, said today that his officials have already checked 70% of the land claimed by Mrs. Somporn Juangroongruangkit and found that she has three types of land certificate, namely Nor Sor 3 Kor, Nor Sor 3 and title deeds, all of which are pending examination by forensic experts.

At this stage, he said that officials suspect that the land in question is located in national forest reserves and perennial forest and that the associated certificates might have been wrongfully issued.

Throughout the years of living here, I have seen numerous disagreements on property borders and invariably a surveyor is needed. Awhile back I asked one surveyor if he had ever been offered bribes to misread the measurements. He shrugged and simply said "All the time."...

Sick headline and I hope not generated by rooster. What has Thanatorn's mother's actions got to do with him? How many of us can claim with absolute certainty that none of our family has ever done something illegal? And even if so, this should not be used (as this article seems to be) as a means of implying that there is something wrong about him.

The government is getting desperate to shut Thanatorn down. This could also be seen as a payback for mum taking control of the media shares that caused him grief.

Who else thinks the land titles will be deemed "illegal" and a prosecution launched?

No doubt if Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit were to sever all links with Future Forward, withdraw any financial support, and declare that he has no intention whatsoever of playing any part in politics ever again; then the matter of his mother's land will be found to be a simple administrative misunderstanding - they do so easily happen.

Be honest, you arrived in Thailand the other day, or were you really looking for an answer to that question?

It should be very clear to anyone, that Thanatorn will be made to regret that he ever got in the opposition of the crooks that rule the country.

it wouldn't surprise me at all if he will end up in exile soon, similar to so many other Thais that are revealing the truth about what is going on in this country.

Maybe she only borrowed the 30 land titles from a dead friend. Unfortunately, the stupidest excuses only work among political friends. The law is often measured with two dimensions. There are probably a lot of Thais now, who only want that the current government disappear.

I have been in Thailand (and on this Earth) long enough to know that you should not take one sentence from an article and use it to criticize the author and form the basis of a different point. My issue, in case you haven't been here long enough to understand, is the all too common practice here (especially among government owned media such as Thai PBS) of degenerating people by implying that they are guilty by association with family deeds if you can't find any direct dirt on them. By the way, I am not saying that Thanatorn is clean as I don't have enough information to form a view one way or the other. Only time will tell... if he remains in Thailand and lives long enough.

Thanks for taking the time to confirm the point I was making in my reply to your post.

The reason I singled out just one line of your post,  was because that line enforced the point I was trying to make.

It was certainly not meant to criticize you, but rather the authorities who use this practise to take someone down

and who is checking on members of the current government MP's and leaders for all their transgressions - oh of course none of them have done one single thing wrong ................................... right ?

Has that 'lady' politician given back the land that her chicken farm was on yet? She said she would, but has it actually happened?  Not likely, me thinks. 🙂
