It unfortunately does not fit these peoples Agenda for the perceived ills of the folks living in the USA. They go back 400 years to keep the playbook going. But then if that is the case, and we are talking about long time disenfranchising then maybe The Mongolian people/China should be held accountable for the destruction and chaos and enslavement by Genghis Kahn, or the EU for the slavery used, or the disenfranchising of religious groups, or well the list can be expanded. So for any foreigners that are feeling this I suggest that you explore other ways to show your support which are available to you from Thailand. They do exist. For Thais I would think they would have many more locally compelling issues to express dissent about, yeah? I can understand these BLM events in places like the UK but this really doesn't make any sense to me in Thailand. To be clear, I am hoping that now is finally the time that the USA addresses its original sin of structural racism towards black people. Maybe. Just maybe. Thais are not activists by nature, yet in this day and age of perpetual army control and total indifference to the people of Thailand, and their well being, activism is important, and necessary. This is a good first step. Plus, Thais are mesmerized by anything white, so this is a very good cultural lesson for them, in embracing the concept that black is beautiful. So many Thais are dark skinned, yet many seem ashamed of their "blackness". That is based on nothing real, and anything that helps them to embrace who they are, is a good thing. It is good all around. This kind of thing makes me proud of the Thai youth, who are the only real hope this nation has. The army is moving the nation backwards, daily. If it is racist or not. What´s important is that it never happens again. Now it happens to be a black man, which makes the problem bigger due to that they have never been seen as having the same value as white people. How you can be surprised that the world are answering a thing like this is the thing that is most mind boggling. The pressure from the international society has always been a tool to make a difference. It will continue to be that. Simple, right? That is nothing but a good thing. And it gives me hope about the future of the nation. I think for the vast majority here, the hapless and toxic army gives people nothing but a sense of utter hopelessness. Since all gatherings are illegal, it matters little. An African American president didn't even begin to solve the original American sin of systemic racism against black people.
