The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has added seven airports to the list of airports that are allowed to reopen for domestic flights, effective from Saturday (June 6).

CAAT director-general Chula Sukmanop announced on Friday (June 5) that the seven airports include Tak, Trad, Nakhon Ratchasima, Narathiwat, Pai, Phetchabun and Sukhothai.

“The CAAT decided to open these airports in compliance with the government’s easing of lockdown measures to tackle Covid-19,” he said. “The opening hours of these airports will be restricted to between 6am and 8pm.”

According to CAAT list, airports that are open for domestic flights are: Khon Kaen, Chumphon, Tak, Trad, Trang, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nan Nakhon, Narathiwat, Buri Ram, Pai, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Phrae, Mae Sot, Mae Hong Son, Ranong, Roi Et, Loei, Lampang, Sakon Nakhon, Sukhothai, Udon Thani and Ubon Ratchathani.

The following airports are open for domestic and international flights: Krabi, Chiang Mai, Don Mueang, Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai, Samui, Suvarnabhumi, Surat Thani, Hat Yai, Hua Hin and U-Tapao.

This article says Suvarnabhumi is open for international flights. Did something escape me or are they just talking about repatriation flights and those flights arriving to pick up departing passengers?

No, as you describe it.

Plus cargo.

It's no general opening for tourist arrivals.

Different story.

For other airports it seems a pure formal thing without any flights actually taking place.

And for many of the airports no flights will actually take place anytime soon.

Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), no scheduled passenger flights since ages (if ever?).

Flew in to Sakon Nakhon 3 days ago and out of Nakhon Phanom this morning. Both pretty full...restricted to two thirds capacity.

Any restrictions for entering Nakorn Phanom? It's one of the provinces that was banning non-resident foreigners from entering. Not sure about now though.

If ever? - out of interest (from December 2017):-

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: Commercial passenger flights will return to the province’s only airport, Nong Teng (NAR) after a two-year hiatus with the launch of two new services by NewGen Airways, to Chiang Mai and Phuket. Flights to Bangkok were considered unprofitable.

Further quote:-

In August 2019, New Gen Airways suspended all flight operations.[2] In October of the same year, the airline forfeited its whole fleet, thus ceasing all operations

Had to fly back to DMK from Nakhon Phanom because there were no Air Asia flights from Sakon Nakhon today. Took a cab from Sakon Nakhon to Nakhon Phanom airport...no problems.

Where did I refer to Udon Thani?

Or since when is Nakhon Ratchasima = Udon Thani?

Where do you have your geography from?

Give me a list of the airports from the news that actually have flights.

Tak, Trad, Nakhon Ratchasima, Narathiwat, Pai, Phetchabun and Sukhothai?

Phetchabun, Loei, Chumphon...?

Would have been worth to read some of the posts above!
